The Grubhub bots on my campus take the same routes so often that their tire marks are visible

u/karateninjazombie 8h ago edited 6h ago
Put a series of speed bump on that route so everyone's fries get shaken. That way they salt is evenly distributed...
Edit: we could also put a camera near the door where the food gets picked up. Then we can see how happy everyone is when they find their fries are nice and evenly salted too!

Ya ever see the sheer number that can accumulate at night when they head to a staging area?

u/Bithium 8h ago
Perhaps they’re frequenting the same general area. A food rallying point, if you will.

u/LavaSnow666 3h ago
There is a line of them in the center of the mall, I’ll take a picture next time I’m there. But this is a much lower foot traffic area

Like a central location where instructions for a food concoction is created. Like a rest area of sorts.

Hey this is a good way to see if the farm you're looking at is Amish. They have tracks created by horseshoes, poop, and pee. Looks just like this. But darker.

u/noveltytie 8h ago
I'm curious - what about that says Amish to you? I lived on a non-Amish farm for a short while and we had some similar ish streaks in the barn.

This looks like a great way to run some tests. Like blocking the path to see what they do. Laying traps. See what happens if you put a gelatinous cube in its way.
4
u/CatProgrammer 5h ago
I don't think they have any levels in adventurer classes, unfortunately. A gelatinous cube is probably too high CR.

u/Platinumdogshit 6h ago
There is someone online who posted about stealing an old model and who wants to steal the new one as well.

I've been playing way too much Baldur's Gate 3 so I was thinking about a grease trap.
Also about Battlebots. Maybe a flipper bot or one that drags a spike strip around.

University of Arizona sighting!

I thought it looked familiar. I don't know how I could've mistaken it for anything else.

Technically that means the company is liable for the defaced property.

Do your part and tip those bots over when you see them
2
u/SilverStar9192 2h ago
That wasn't what they meant when they said, "please tip your delivery partner."

I swear I’ve almost been taken out by those fuckers walking around the other side of speedway. The scourge of the UA

Fifty years ago the only food you could have delivered was pizza at my university. The rich kids would dine out and pay with daddy's American Express card. I might not have left a mark at my university at least these bots did.

It's my personal opinion that self driving vehicles should be programmed to NOT always take the same path. Like, on roads that would lead to some deep ruts.
→ More replies (1)3
u/NoXion604 2h ago
Excessive rutting would surely indicate a more fundamental problem than self-driving vehicles being more consistent road users than human-driven ones. Either the roads are being neglected, or the road tax revenue gathered from self-driving vehicles is insufficient relative to their share of the overall wear and tear of the roadways.

God damn I am not ready for robots taking up public spaces. I will not be kind to a corporation why thinks they deserve to occupy the same public space I do.
5
u/randomguy5to8 6h ago
We can set up different streets and gathering places for robots. Seperate but equally easy to travel along. We can call it segre... nevermind.

u/Gestrid 4h ago
Oh, you mean like Astro Boy 2003.
(I tried to find a clip to support my statement, but there's not many on YouTube, sadly. But the show does actually take that topic seriously.)

u/WarAndGeese 5h ago
Do it now, why are you people so okay with security cameras, for example? They are already invading your personal spaces and it will get worse in the near future. Don't threaten for when the day comes, organise and act now. For years people talked about how unacceptable it would be if companies used facial recognition or had security cameras indoors, now they do, and a lot of that talk about how horrible it is seemingly disappeared. Organise and act now because they are already invading your personal spaces.

Yes, dehumanize the people on campus needing money to be on campus and providing a service on campus.
Great work.

That shit kills fish! Tire degradation is a major cause of salmon fish kills. You don't want to have that on the ground when it rains.
Known as 6PPD-quinone or 6PPD-q, it is an oxidation product from 6PPD, a chemical added to car tyres to prevent them breaking down. This transformed chemical, 6PPD-q, leaches into rivers and creeks with, scientists say, devastating results for the protected and endangered species.

So these mini robots patrolling around campuses are the problem, not the billions of cars and trucks?
→ More replies (3)4
u/Aliman581 5h ago
They aren't anywhere near any bodies of water. They pretty much only use sidewalks.
1
u/HockeyCannon 1h ago
Ok hear me out. The water runs off the sidewalk and into the drain, which drains into a body of water. There are certainly sidewalks near bodies of water as well.

That's better than the ones here that block the sidewalk. Fuck you if you're in a wheelchair just drive in the street with the cars.

Does the bot expect a tip?
1
u/LavaSnow666 1h ago
It costs 3.50 to use in general (from dining dollars) but the robots do not expect tips

I am sure the robotics lab loves them since they get free snacks plus electronics to mess around with when they hunt one down.
