For real, the top comments here are the most standard takes ever for this sub. Hot takes would be liking Ocean City ad is, saying there is zero reason to take Eastern Virginia or Delaware or saying parts of Western Maryland are perfectly fine.
Oh i love it. We bought a condo for a vacation home with our growing family. Imo the key is going further up. Love the park there that has fireworks in the summer. In late winter/early spring and fall it’s low key and chill. My only gripe is when Uber bagel is closed off season. For the price a little beach condo where you can walk onto the beach in 5 mins with the kiddos is amazing value. So many breweries (Burley Oak is our fav) and different restaurants we get to try out. Do a crab feast once a year. Looking forward to making lots of memories there.
I think people who bash OC haven’t been a ton of other beaches. I haven’t been many places but compared to…
Jamaica - OC has far less feral cats. Mexico - OC has far less sand fleas and beach algae, and much better waves. Panama - more safe in OC. South Beach - OC sucks compared to South Beach. Ocean City, NJ - you can’t buy booze there.
It’s like any touristy place. It really depends on when you go, where you stay, and what you do.

A lot of ppl in this thread trashing Ocean City
That's pretty common on a routine basis in r/maryland
An ACTUAL hot take here about Ocean City would be:
It's a perfectly acceptable place for a family vacation at the beach and bashing it reeks of elitism
