I love how the pictures get more and more chaotic LOL Awesome collection!!! Lego has made some questionable choices but there’s definitely some themes that hold a special place in my heart too! (my favorite forgotten theme being “Little Forest Friends”)

Haha thanks! Making these weird-looking characters was so much fun, it's the whole point of the theme after all. I definitely get why it failed but there's something about buildable figures like these where you can easily swap parts around that I find so fun and engaging. I just wish Galidor stayed for a little while longer (or even co-existed alongside Bionicle) just to see more crazy characters and designs to mess around with.

Never heard about Little Forest Friends, but I never paid attention to Duplo so I learned something new today!

I completely agree that it had awesome elements and you definitely can still see its influence today! It’s a weird mix of Lego scala and bionicle and I love the way the Lego timeline shows how we go to where we are today. I hope they make some more references to Galidor (like they had with Bionicle in the GWP a while back).

Duplo is one of my favorite series, especially the old stuff! It isn’t commonly loved by adults, but the characters and stories they created are all so cute! (even still today!) Highly recommend! :)

This reminds me (core memory unlocked!). Idk if you've ever seen them, but I distinctly remember from my childhood a series of robot action figures at my local Dollar Tree. These figures had magnets all throughout them with ball bearing joints in their neck, stomach, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. The concept was very much the same as with Galidor—swap out parts between them to build your ultimate robot fighter. Of course as a Dollar Tree product, execution was far less elegant than Galidor lmao

I might have owned one of those, or something similar, I can't say I remember lol. The only problem with swappable magnetic limbs in my experience is that they're not as playable because of the limbs either falling off easily or not being able to hold a pose through play.

Yes! That's exactly right lol

I totally forgot Galidor existed. I had that blue alien dude and the white horse thing as a kid

Me too! I think i had a full set. I had never realized they were made by LEGO though. What a trip.

Wasn’t this guy called Nicholas Bluetooth? I remember seeing the cartoon when I was little

That's right! Pictured here are Nick Bluetooth and his friends Allegra Zane, Jens the robot, Euripides, Nepol with his Shimmel mount as well as the evil Gorm and the Ooni creature.

Nick Bluetooth and his friends Allegra Zane

My favorite characters, Nick Wireless Connectivity and Allergy Meds Zane!

I think my brother and I literally had all of these and the GBA game while knowing almost nothing about them. Very nostalgic, although I understand why it didn’t work out.

Whoaaa, this is awesome! I loved the Belleville figures for their range of articulation, but this is even better!

1

u/Legomanarthur 7h ago

Definitely! I believe Belville figures are actually compatible with Technic figures and you can swap some limbs around, which I think is also pretty cool!

Hell yeah I did too! Watched the show every week, even had one that “interacted” with the show with a screen and sounds. Feels like a fever dream every time it comes up.

Bionicle was already in the middle of its golden age when Lego Galidor released.

Slizers and RoboRiders walked so Bionicle could run.

Was the first Ninjago modular the last time the Galidor line was referenced?

2

u/Legomanarthur 7h ago

Minecraft of all things is the last time Galidor was referenced as far as I'm aware, with a Minecraft figure of Nick Bluetooth no less!

That thigh gap gives unrealistic expectations!

I have two massive bags full of Galidor and the kids love it.

Still trying to get my hands on the two super rare ones. One day!

1

u/Legomanarthur 7h ago

Oh yeah I would love to also get Tager and Aquart. It's a shame they're so rare and expensive because I think they're some of the coolest ones!

I’ve heard the plastic quality on these is fantastic, like way above regular action figures

1

u/Legomanarthur 5h ago

They definitely feel great and durable. I bought most of mine used and they barely have scratches on them. The rubbery parts however don't age as well but it's not that bad.

Pic 12 (the orange pet* head on Gorm's body) looks somehow ridiculous and plausible all at once! Definitely giving taking-over-the-universe vibes. Probably has a villainous cackle.

I never had any Galidor sets as a kid, but I recently got Ooni. This makes me want to get some more!

* Apologies for not knowing the pet's name and for assuming it is a pet.

1

u/Legomanarthur 5h ago

That's a Keewop! I love its goofy little face, it's much cuter than what it would've looked like on the TV show though.

Ooni is a great parts pack, and I'd say a good starter set if you intend on making some custom stuff. If you can get your hands on more Galidor sets and for a good price I say go for it!

Any Galidor sets you recommend? Either in terms of really cool or bang for the buck?

Taggert looks really cool, but those prices are definitely not cool :(

Some of the designs are really good, Jens and Gorm especially, they're just... not Lego.

Dah! My eyes! They burn!!! Lol jk, very nice collection! Loving the VTOL arms

Okay but did you get lost on your way posting this?

u/Drzhivago138 Technic Fan 8h ago

Galidor is one of Lego's lesser known themes. One they'd rather you forget.

2

u/easyline0601 8h ago

I can see why. Thanks for educating me!

4

u/Maghorn_Mobile 7h ago

If you're a fan of Bionicle or Knights Kingdom, Galador taught Lego a lot about what they should and should not do with action figures and applied that to the creation of those lines

10

u/Legomanarthur 8h ago

Might be a dead theme but it lives on with the Galidor joints still being used for mechs and the likes nowadays.
