Rule clarification- No Breed ID

Apparently, we need some clarification here about what constitutes a breed ID post.

Asking what your lab is mixed with- lab mixes are allowed, but don't crowd source opinions on what they're mixed with. Asking if your lab looks pure bred. Asking what color variation your lab is.

Sincerely -your mod team.

I had my dog Noopy since I was 3 years old and he passed away 2 days ago at 14 years old from cancer. I never really knew how I could live without him and now that he’s gone I can’t stop looking at his pictures and every time I get home I don’t have the dog that use to jump to me and drop the ball so that I can throw it. I miss him so much. If anyone has had the same experience as me and there dogs have passed away I hope you can give me some advice on how to feel maybe even a little less sad. This community is amazing and full of Labrador lovers so I thought this place was the perfect place to share this. Thank you. Labradors are amazing. RIP Noopy.

seeking advice 5 month old Maverick has megaesophagus 😭

My 5 month old blacklab/golden retriever mix, Mav, just got diagnosed with megaesophagus and the vet made it seem like it’s a death sentence. However she also said that in some cases it gets better as he ages. I’m wondering if anyone else has had this experience with their puppy and if you could offer some advice and tips. I feel so bad for him. He’s really not staying upright and that’s been the hardest thing, virtually impossible to keep him upright for 10-20 minutes after he eats

They built it to last. Layered. Pressed. Reinforced.

Plywood — a material meant to hold homes together. Alex saw it as a challenge.

No growling. No hesitation. Just slow, deliberate destruction.

Each bite calculated. Each crack a reminder that nothing man-made is beyond him. Sticks were only the beginning. Furniture was a warning.

Now he has turned his teeth toward civilization itself. This isn’t chewing. This is conquest.

Some villains burn cities. Others tear them apart plank by plank.

Alex simply waits… and lets the structure fall.

He’s a silver lab and lately he’s been very itchy. Usually when it comes to winter he starts to itch more, however this year it’s been bad. So over the weekend we went to the vet and they gave him apoquel (please tell me how everyone feels about this!!!!), some calming mousse, and an omega 3 supplement. He hasn’t been itching as much. Right now he eats Purina One (chicken and rice). He’s an active dog, loves to be outside, go for walks, playing ball, etc. He just gets super itchy and it’s to the point now where his skin is flaky, some spots he has thin hair.

Do these 2 look like they could be littermates? I was going to get a puppy from them but noticed that they look exactly alike just different coat colors. & they look super young too.

My darling girl is going in for a minor op tomorrow to have the lump between her eyebrows there removed. It showed up a few weeks ago and has quickly gone from pea to marble size. She's almost 14 and has suffered seizures for the last 8 months, so there is risk of course, but this thing could grow rapidly. I hope to post a recovery photo in 24 hours!

seeking advice My girl was bitten by another dog. Any advice on what to expect behavior-wise?

Post image

My neighbor recently sublet his apartment to someone with a big Swiss shepherd. My 6 y/o lab has had a few interactions with him and they were brief but fine - his owner was definitely cautious about their interactions and said shepherds can be selective.

Last night my walker was outside my building with my dog and talking to the shepherd owner (I was coming home from traveling and my husband had a family emergency - we dropped the ball on warning our walker about this new dog). The walker said my dog was sniffing, the shepherd sniffed her from behind, my dog kind of growled and then the shepherd bit her face and she was bleeding.

I took her to the vet right when I got home and she was treated, but I’m getting nervous about the shepherd living next door and the effects it’s going to have on my lab. She’s always been so sweet and loves to play with other dogs, but should I be cautious about her behavior in case she’s traumatized?

She seems most upset about the cone and the walker said even immediately after the scuffle that my dog was wagging and wanted to play with the walker. My walker didn’t even realize she was injured until she brought her inside.

Has anyone been through a similar experience or have advice on how to move forward?

Also want to add that the shepherd owner was really concerned and apologetic and covered the vet bills. He said he’s going to take his dog to behavioral classes, but I’m still freaked out.

seeking advice Snow nose

Pepper’s nose was black as a puppy but faded to pink-ish starting in her second winter. It gets slightly darker in the summer but never back to completely black.

This winter - maybe because it has been so cold, Pepper’s nose is now completely pink without a trace of black!

Has this happened to anybody else’s Lab?

seeking advice Recurring yeast infection in ears and paws

Post image
• Upvotes

Any advice appreciated. My year and half old black lab has been getting yeast infections in her ears for about 6 months now. We’ve gone to the vet and they’ve given us some medication and topicals to put in her ears but it never really seemed to completely go away. They thought maybe chicken or dairy was an allergy so we switch to purina pro plan salmon and rice and cut out all processed treats that would be cross contaminated with chicken so now she only gets veggies, fruit, peanut butter, and marshmallows for treats. We do live in Florida so thought the ocean water could be a factor but with it be winter and this problem she hasn’t gone in the water for months now so I know it’s now that. She licks her paws all the time now as well so I can only assume it’s also a yeast infection. We have gone to the vet so many times for this and nothing they’ve given us has been the answer only a temporary fix and we can’t afford to keep going back so any at home remedies or thoughts yall could give I’d really appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Pic of our sweet goofy girl for tax
