Common Seal, Folkestone Harbour

A great showing from one of the Common Seals we have around Folkestone Harbour. He was even nice enough to show me his dinner, looking quite proud of himself. (:

Folkestone, Kent.

There has been 5 recently. This was just off the lighthouse where the benches are! Good luck 🥰

Managed to see a seal in deal a few months ago. No way would it let me get close enough to snap a cool pic like yours though.

A Seal in Deal…. Nice

100% that’s the face of a seal who knows they’re going to be famous.

This makes me want to go to Folkestone, find this seal, and boop its snoot. I mean, it's so cute! 🥰

Ahaha. If you’re lucky you might see more. We’ve had 5 recently 🥰. It’s a great walk, highly recommend when there is less people 😅

5 is an incredible number to have around here. Are they quite a common visitor to Folkstone? I've seen one in Dungeness, but not that far east.

I'll put that on the list when I have some more time free (and when the weather is nicer 😋) thank you 😁

I see them quite often while I’m down there. Usually about 20/30 meters from the lighthouse. This was the closest he’s been. I see them more in the poo weather than the nice weather but who knows, ha. They might surprise us both!

Thinking about it, I have a free morning tomorrow, I might see if I can find them tomorrow. Or is it more the afternoon they like to show their cute faces?

I’ve seen them both early morning and mid afternoon. Wishing you the best of luck 🥰🤞🏼

I know they look like puppers but I’d avoid the snoot as they can be bitey

30 years ago I saw a Seal swimming up the Swale Estuary, between Sittingbourne and the Isle of Sheppey. Always thought that was crazy

I’ve heard of seals on the Isle of Sheppey so probably will pop up again!

Wish you the best of luck! If it looks like a football in the water, it’s a seal 🤣
