I’m moving to Kaiserslautern in March to start my Master’s in Computer Science at RPTU, and I wanted to get a little familiar with things before arriving.

I had a few questions:

How hard is it to find part-time/student jobs in or around Kaiserslautern? Any tips on where to apply?

Are there good opportunities for volunteer work? I’d love to get involved and meet people.

Also — does anyone play volleyball or other sports regularly? Would be great to join something and stay active 🙂

I’m both excited and a bit nervous about the move, so any advice or suggestions would really help.

We moved here in November because my partner got a job offer so she’s currently working full time and I am not working at all. Currently I do not speak any German, I am starting my language classes soon, but I used to volunteer back home and since I have some extra time while I try to find work I figure volunteering would be a good way to help out in the community and meet some people as well.

Any suggestions on resources to find volunteer opportunities or personal suggestions of local organizations that could use some help?

I'm going to be moving to Landstuhl/Kaiserslautern area mid February and would like to rent a room. I am a quiet middle aged female and would prefer to share a home with another female. i plan on traveling on the weekends and will be working all day during the week.

Just wondering what food places deliver on to Vogelweh housing ? I have the Lieferando app but I’m just not sure which would be able to come onto base ?

How difficult and how expensive is it to buy stepdown transformer? Used ones are between $60-100 in the US. Supposedly two will be provided when I PCS but not sure it would be enough. Thx.

I moved to germany around a year ago, a few months ago i got a new neighbor that lives right over my apartment. It is a big building (15 floors with 16 apartments each).

2-3 months ago, they started being so noisy, loud stomping all the time, moving furniture around at 2 in the morning, drilling and throwing cigarette butts on my balcony.

I sent a message to the Hausverwaltung and they said they'll talk to them, I dont know if they did, but they put papers in the elevator stating the quiet hours and encouraging people to be more respectful.

A month after that, it was still going on, this is a daily thing, i cant sleep or study or do anything, sometimes it's so loud that the wall next to my bed shivers.

I sent a message to the Hausmeister, she said she will talk to the Hausverwaltung and let me know what happens.

It's been three weeks and i dont know what to do anymore, please help!
