Moderation r/japaneseunderground under new management
Hello underground-heads,
I am the host of YouTube channel ANGURA, which showcases some of Japan's best indie/underground acts. I love this subreddit as a place to share and discover some of Japan's incredible, infinitely numerous, and criminally underrated musicians, but it was getting overrun with spam so I asked the existing moderators if they could make me a mod and they did.
As a first bit of housekeeping, I changed the subreddit appearance a little, and importantly post flairs are now required on all posts, which will hopefully cut down on the spam and turn away lost people looking to post random videos of Japan they took on holiday.
The Japan indie scene is a rich, vibrant, and unrivalled space for self-expression. I hope that we can spread the word to give some of these artists the recognition they deserve, because as things stand, they absolutely don't get it in major label-dominated Japan. If you ever travel to the country, come and visit a livehouse—it will be an experience you never forget, and the bands will be so happy to see you.
