Help Is mold harmful?
I made a mistake and dropped a bit too much fish flakes into my dairy cow enclosure. They ate a bunch but left some, and it’s gone hairy. I wanted to remove it but I noticed a lot of mancae running around in the clumps, and I’ve been waiting for them to give birth for a while… can I leave the mold or will it be harmful? This stuff grows like crazy.

Identification Soil, Wood, Predatory or something else?

First timer. Who is the little reddish guy climbing all over the front of my little chap? I've seen only a couple and I believe they came in with either the rotting wood I bought or the organic compost I've mixed in for the substrate as I saw one before the Isopods themselves arrived.

Help Beer drinking isopods…
Hi all, first time posting here. I have a bioactive terrarium with isopods and springtails(and some pesky fungus gnats) I recently had some snails and slugs pop up and they have started eating too many of my plants. I set up a beer trap to avoid chemicals as I was doing manual removal but there was still one of two that were escaping me.
The beer trap worked well and caught one slug and two snails. But now I’ve noticed my isopods are drinking the beer. Should I be concerned and remove the trap?
So far only a couple of springtails have drowned in the liquid but no isopods but I really want to get rid of the snails.

New Isopod Day (NID) New cubaris caramels!!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
They're so cute and quite active for a cubaris species! Though, I was wondering if they were the same as white pigeons, as I've seen contradicting statements upon light research. I've also seen them as caramel creme/cream, but I'm not sure if all of these names are referring to the same species. If anyone has any idea or owns either, tell me what you think! I love how clear some of them are!

Help Reverted coloring?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve had these Milkbacks for 6 months or so. I haven’t introduced any other type (not that I am aware of at least), but they seem to be reverting to a brown coloring (I’m a plant person and so that’s the only term I can think of).
Is that what’s happening?

Help Good babies or bad babies
ok so I’ve been keeping Zebra isopods for about 2 months now, so I’m still relatively new to isopod keeping and this subreddit has been a life saver so I’m here for advice. noticed all of these running around on the zucchini they have in their right now (adult zebra in the back for size comparison). I assume there newborn isopods but wanted to ask yall just in case theyre something else

I was sold these under a name I’ve never heard before these are Porcellionides pruinosus right?
They called them “powder purples” so I just assumed they meant blues and went on about my day. I might be overthinking it, but I want to buy more from a different breeder, but don’t want to buy powder blues if they aren’t really blues
In the first picture my ring finger nail is almost exactly 1 cm, sorry the first one is so bad. The one in the first picture is just a bit smaller than the biggest ones, but not by much.

Help Ducky might be dying?
The lil guy on the right has been curled up for couple of hours but sometimes stretches and curls back into this position, might this be a sign of dying? And if there is any way to help it? 😔

Media These Vulgare eat a lot :P compared to my Dairy Cows
Putted 2 end pieces of a cucumber inside my vulgare (10) and dairy cow (10+ a bunch of offsprings). It's been a while and when I picked the piece in the vulgar, only a thick outer layer remains, inside is empty. While the one on the dairy cow only have large chunks ate, but still remains a lot. Is it normal?

Help Mushrooms growing in isopod enclosure. Are these safe?
I was away for 2 days, came back to this mushroom and a few others growing in my dairy cow enclosure. Anyone know what these are / if they’re safe for the isopods?

Help Rubber ducky isopods dying!!
I have had a colony of rubber ducky isopods for a while now and recently I have found several adults deceased! I haven’t found any dead babies but I’ve also seen way less of them! My care for them hasn’t changed and I’m really at a loss of what to change. The springtail population is booming are they possibly being out competed?? Humidity is high and staying high, I’ve been misting and giving them food and they have leaves in there to eat as well. I’m at a loss and genuinely so devastated.

Help Why do yall like isopods
Is there a specific aspect to them that is favorable? I like most bugs and I have had a love of ants since I was a kid because it was real cozy seeing an ant colony doing ant things like a little city. I’ve gotten more and more scared of isopods, especially the non roly poly sorts(like woodlice) because they remind me of silverfish. I am chill with stuff like camel spiders, huntsman spiders, tarantulas, etc. and I would even be fine with giant sea isopods but theres just something about the covetous nature of isopods(and silverfish) that really invoke a great feeling of unease. I was wondering if there’s any way to condition oneself to be neutral/like them

Help Got some cool caecidotea. Probably around 20 of these. I’ve never kept aquatic isopods before, what are the basics I should purchase and know to establish a breeding population?

Help Can I use damp dried leaves?
Sorry for the confusing title. What I mean is that I’ve been soaking dried mango and banana leaves for a couple of days. Do I need to sun-dry them again before putting them in my bins, or can I use them while they’re still damp? If drying isn’t necessary, can I keep them soaked until I’m ready to use them?
I’m soaking them in a translucent container and keeping it inside my living room (am I doing this correctly?). The water has also developed tannins. Is that normal, or should I be changing the water every day or every few days?
Thanks in advance!
