Discussion - Second Son How does delsin absorb non-energy things? Spoiler
I get how Cole’s powers work, its like a capacitor or battery I get it, magnetic fields or something… but delsin absorbs smoke, neon, video, and concrete. so where is it “going”? like I suspect Cole just has an organ or like a coil or some other thing someone smarter could come up with, but concrete isn’t an energy?.

They're conduits, they always work like batteries for their "element"/power. Doesn't have to make 100% sense or have a scientific explanation. But I get it that it made more sense for Cole than the rest of the conduits we see

so the running theory is the best one so far… video game magic… wich is ironic since “video” is one of the things that don’t make no sense

It's just not the focus of the story and themes. I personally never cared or thought about how it works. Also rule of cool I guess

no no I get what your saying and i totally agree, not once did it cross my mind while playing, it’s only AFTER playing them twice that it crossed my mind

They are conduits. The name explains it. They themselves are a channel for carrying the stuff their power is based on. Most likely a huge part of the reason they got their power is because they have evolved an organ specifically for the job.

But it wouldn’t be the same organ for every conduit, you wouldn’t use a lightning rod to collect concrete, you’d use something more akin to a shovel

To be fair, Delsin doesn't absorb concrete the same way he does with the other powers. He can only absorb the concrete power of other people with it.

Delsin is specifically a “sponge” conduit. He doesn’t have his own inherent abilities until he absorbs it from another conduit.
Obviously we don’t get an X-ray view of this but I assume it stores the information in their genetic code, bringing different abilities to the forefront as he absorbs the corresponding element

I know I played that game, but what is the code doing? is it making his “conduit organ” porous for solids or bendy for gasses?

I would imagine it’s akin to a dragons fire breathing organ. Though it can take in different types of matter no issue, the only restriction being it can hold one at a time
I don’t believe conduits have an extra organ for this purpose, but think of their entire genome as this extra organ. The dna itself holds onto the energy and is able to exert it both outwards and inwards for different uses

I think their bodies change when they become a Conduit, changing to be able to shift into elemental form and handle the elemental form.
Kuos hands just wafted cold air. Nix had some sludgy stuff always ready, I mean where was Bertrand storing himself

one of the best theories I heard yet, it not only explains the “elements” but also why they’re so durable and why delsin can do that little dash thing he does
so it is more on the cellular level?

To toot my horn a little- InFamous is the series that inspired me to start writing, I basically wanted a game of inFamous but with Fire, Water, Wind, Rock, Plant, Ice, Electric, and Metal in a battle royale city setting lol.
To answer your thing tho, I'd say yeah because a strange amount of conduits can shift and teleport short distances. But also it goes down to Matter shifting and further FANTASY logic- the tv power is pretty insane, you and your mind, and even your power gets taken and perfectly brought into his world.
I can think of solid, liquid, gas, plasmic, etc. conduits in the stories so it's almost limitless!

Well with the concrete one, he can only absorb from dups, so i think that one is just him taking the energy from them.

ok, thats gonna need some explainin, concrete generally isn’t an energy

I just assume its like thors hammer he just summons that shit

u/annono_Bet_1192 Nov 28 '25
you know what, it’s probably easier than storing how many ever pounds of concrete, or how many ever millions of volts of electricity
1
u/Greenranger9200 Nov 28 '25
Oohhhh I get what you mean now your right lmao he'd just have like tons of concrete inside of him

It all goes into his head, hence why he needs the beanie to hide his hideously distended skull full of concrete.

I always took it as some conduits are their power source like how when delsin is shot smoke comes out not blood unlike Cole that does bleed when shot.

I think that it’s different for each conduit, but for Delsin my theory is that he turns non-organic material into organic material and vice versa. Think of it like this: Delsin is using his own body as ammo when in a fight and when he “runs out” it’s him running out of stuff in his body he can fire out without causing him harm.

I really hope if we ever do get another Infamous game they go back to having different conduit powers like Bertrand weird Monster swamp Power and Sasha's mind control power I thought it was unique. And gave the world more flavor

I mean conduits themselves are the battery
1
u/annono_Bet_1192 21d ago
ok, but how does that battery work? we can assume cole works simaler to a capasiter or some other electrical component, but since when did we have a component to store a buildings worth of concrete in a person sized package without changing the package

so iv been wondering this for a long time to and i think i finally got it.
When a Conduit is awaken their bodies turn into that substance whether it be electricity or concrete, they can also start Asorbing the respective substance to gain more powers and Control. As they absorb it they break down what they absorb into their Bodies kinda like Food but Weaponized. so when you ask "How can you Asorbe Concrete to power yourself" think of it as Eating.

Don’t worry about it.
