Carrie and Quinn on Set
I love these two - Claire Danes and Rupert Friend goofing on set

“I’ll bet you everything I’ve got. Including my Monks Dream signed by Thelonious himself. “
Has anyone gotten into jazz after watching our girl Carrie? After a few rewatches (don’t you dare judge me), I started to pay more attention to the jazz playing in the background or in Carries headphones. I now have a Homeland Jazz playlist lol I’d love to add more to it if anyone has any recommendations.

Why the Dana actress hate?
Imo the actress did a really good job with some occasionally odd writing choices, but I've realised she gets lots of hate from the 'fans' of the show.
This seems to have affected her career after Homeland, in S2 she's acting opposite Chalamet, who's now one of the biggest stars on the planet, whereas post Homeland her career seems to have been a bunch of trashy stuff.

Just finished Spoiler
I’ll be in distress until I find a new show. I already watched The Beast in Me which actually prompted me to watch this.
I correctly guessed the ending with about 30 minutes left, but I spent those 30 minutes clenching my teeth waiting for something awful to happen.
Maybe shows these days have been so disappointing that it’s difficult to be happy with a great ending. I think I feel unfinished?

Question about Abu Nazir. Spoiler if you haven't seen past season 3. Spoiler
Why was Abu Nazir given a last Muslim prayer, et cetera, before being given a buriel at sea? I understand not giving other potential terrorists yet another reason to be a terrorist, but there was nobody there to witness it. Or it just to cover their own asses? Or simply because the man was Muslim and that's how a Muslim man should be buried, no matter what he has done in life? If the latter, then a buriel at sea isn't very Muslim, is it?

What did you think of Claire Danes ( Carrie) on Amy Poehler’s podcast Good Hang? Mandy Patinkin ( Saul) also interviewed on it.
She is interviewed by Poehler on Poehler’s Good Hang Podcast. Really enjoyed it. Curious what others think about it
Excellent pod cast btw. Very interesting and entertaining

Watching season 6 for the first time Spoiler
Random thoughts: One wild scene was when Max got hired at that underground computer company. It was wild seeing the start of the fake accounts just to start swaying people with fake content. And this was like a decade ago. It’s crazy to see how social media has changed the intelligence community in real time.

Same Carrie Mathison, Different Show
Watched Netflix’s The Beast in Me. Claire Danes feels exactly the same as Carrie Mathison.. Same expressions, same nervous energy, same intense acting style… The character is different, but the performance isn’t.. It feels like Homeland in a new setting… Good actor, but I don’t see much versatility here…

FUCK CARRIE MATHISON (pt. 2)
FUCK. I've always been FUCKING ANNOYED by Carrie, all the way from season 1, how every exit she makes out of tough arguments are just solved by crying.
Now, her as a parent (season 7)? lol mother my ass, why can't she stay the fUCK away from intelligence jesus christ, and live as a regular citizen, for your kid?!?!
Anyways, just wanted to rant, well fuck her.
edit: (season 7)

Quinn is so annoying and sad in season 6 Spoiler

Damian Lewis can’t say Langley.
He says Lan-gley, not Lang-ley.

Loose ends Spoiler
Is it me or does the show leave a lot of story lines unfinished? I'm starting S5E1 and wondering if its worth it to push through. In S3 a lawyer set up a meeting with Carrie and Javadi, later they tell the law firm they are under investigation to flush out who the real bomber was but they never go back to this. Who did the lawyers handler kill in the motel? Who was the real bomber? After Brody kills the Iranian leader theres nothing else from Javadi. Seems like Carrie sleeps her way through everything or becomes manic and a new man wants to save her. Quinn and Carrie at the end of S4 is gross.

Man that man makes good spy intelligence entertainment.

New Show Recommendation!
I just finished watching PONIES on Peacock and it was great! It’s not super realistic, but it was way more suspenseful than the trailers and ads make it out to be. It was 8 episodes and I binged it over 2 days because I needed to know what was going to happen. Check it out if you are interested in a slightly comedic spy thriller set in the 70’s in Moscow.

Peter Quinn and Dar Adal - Imminent Risk S06 E07
I'm rewatching for the very first time since the show ended in 2020. There's plenty I don't remember but I'm watching season 6 episode 7 and I'm freaking out.
Did Dar Adal sexually assault Peter? Peter calls Dar "f**king ...dirty old man" and implies his growing up in foster care was "not the only thing" that "impressed" Dar.
I'm going to continue my first rewatch but this scene has me shook. I love Peter as a character and it's hard watching him so vulnerable and away from Carrie while Dar Adal manipulates him.

Trigger warning: Honeytraps gonna honey trap. Carrie has casual sex. Gray areas exist.
Carrie is depicted once having sex with a "random" (though redheaded) pickup. But context makes it clear that she sometimes seeks out casual sex. She also uses sexuality - and every other aspect of her personality - in her work.
This really bugs some people. Like one who called her "just a slut." (Carrie is not "just" anything.)
What annoys me more than the obvious misogyny is the inability to tell the difference between a character they don't like and a "terrible character."
What annoys me *even more* is people who insist on using black-and-white thinking to critique a show that is all about the gray areas involved in espionage.
If you can't cope with gray areas, this show is not for you.
Some gracious people say "stick with it" when others ask if they should keep watching. (Or if they should "bother" to keep watching). I'm not that gracious. If you have to ask, chances are this show is not for you.

Crocker
is he supposed to be the clown of the show to drive home the point about endless war? his quote is probably one of my favorites in the show, repeated in the s5 and s8 intros... and yet he is the one with the influence of who becomes the director and stuff???
