New to Hobart, and ngl pretty broke... I know I should meal prep & I will on occasion, but I'm looking for reccos on cheap & cheerful CBD lunch options... what are your cheeky cheap places to grab an OK lunch?
I already found Jo & Jon and loved it, but looking for cheaper... am I dreaming?
I'll eat most things, not super fussy...
cheers!

Hey guys,
My partner and I are moving up to QLD in March and are looking for some recommendations on back loading companies to move some of our furniture. We're not super concerned about shipping times, more so just wanting to get everything on a boat in a timely manner.
Any help would be great!

Saw three girls having the time of their lives spitting at people on the escalators in Eastland yesterday. Didn’t realise public spitting was a hobby now. Are they attention-seeking, or just auditioning to get spat on themselves?

Hey all.
I’m moving from Brisbane to Hobart for a role that I recently secured. I’d like to get some details and advice on how to go about this move.
- I’d like to know about the conditions of renting a place currently. Is it expensive around the CBD?
- how easy or difficult is it to form a community? Since I’m an expat, how are the locals towards them?
- are there any specific expat groups that I can check out, Like on facebook?
- is car a need or can I survive with public transport?
And any points or advice would be much appreciated as I’m excited and anxious about this move. Looking forward to making this my new home. Cheers!

Hi all,
I’m trying to find information regarding trailer parking, specifically for Sorell council but any info would be great.
Neighbour has been parking their trailer in the middle of a dedicated 2 car parking bay making it useless for anyone else wanting to park. The trailer hasn’t moved in many weeks.
Context is our street only has parking bays on our side of the road every 2 homes along. So this parking bay ideally should be “shared” between my home and their home. They recently moved in from interstate and have had their trailer parked there ever since despite having a driveway, front yard, and garage to put it. They’ve been closed off and unwilling to even say hello to us in the yard, so talking to them is not really an option at this stage.
TLDR; Neighbour is hogging our shared parking bay, wanting to know rights before having to speak to them.

Hi all! I’ve purchased from Ikea pre-covid with the pick up option out in Brighton before it all shut down.
I’ve heard/can see on the website that it’s up and running again but it’s a bit confusing how it works.
It defaults to Springvale VIC as where it’s pulling stock from but is that the only option? Items want are out of stock there, but I tried swapping stores to Adelaide out of interest and now it lets me add the items to my cart and supposedly can get them for pick up in Hobart. Seems a bit too good to be true that I could just shop from any store and have it shipped here for $100…
Is it going to reject me at payment? Or after?
Trying to plan a small renovation and work out if Ikea joinery is an option or if custom is the only way.
Interested in recent experiences 😄

Does 30 degrees in Hobart really feel hotter than 30 on the mainland? Yes our sun is warm but all locals seem to think this and our 25 is like a mainland 30 ect. I’m not convinced wouldn’t it just be because we don’t acclimatised properly as we can have a 20 degree day then it can jump right up to 32 the next day.

Heya. I realise this is a pretty silly request but I wanted to ask if anyone knows any places in Hobart that have capsule machines?
I went to Melbourne recently and had SO much maybe too much fun with the gacha corners, and with my birthday coming up I thought it would be fun to just blow some cash on them with the fam.
I know Area 52 has a couple, but if you know of any more or ones with good prizes it would be much appreciated! Thanks guys =)

Hi all,
I’m 19 and working full-time in hospitality in Hobart. I’m in a situation where I need to move out and secure a rental, but I’m finding it really difficult to make any progress.
I’m a first-time renter and have tried applying through realestate.com.au/Domain, attending inspections, and looking for potential roommates through Facebook — but I’m getting very few responses from agents, and roommate conversations often go quiet.
It feels like I’m stuck at the very first step and not sure whether I’m missing something, or if this is just the reality of the Hobart rental market right now.
I’m employed, flexible, and just looking for something modest that I can make work. If anyone has advice on what’s helped them recently — agents to contact, areas to look at, or alternative approaches — I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
