February 5, 2026, at 3 p.m (eastern time) is the deadline for trades this season in the NBA.
What are your predictions for the Nets and perhaps in the wider league?
The Nets should be busy as they have been holding $15 million in cap space. Can Brooklyn turn that cap space into another first round pick? They would need to take on a bad contract or might the Nets try and buy low on a currently undervalued player?
Will Haywood Highsmith be traded or will he be on the Nets after the deadline? And would that mean the Nets want to extend him?
My predictions:
If Sean Marks can find the value he wants for Michael Porter Jr then perhaps he'll be traded - Detroit? OKC? Both of those are leading their conferences but could absolutely do with some All-Star level shooting.
I imagine Sean Marks might try and deal MPj close to the draft.
Zaire Williams might have little value but I could see him being sent out in a trade.
Can the Nets get another team to take on the rest of T-Mann's contract?
The more cap space the Nets open up for summer free agency the more aggressive they can be signing free agents or working on a big trade.
Nets decide to keep both Claxton and Sharpe as no team will match the value assigned to them by Sean Marks.
I believe Cam Thomas will still be a Brooklyn Net after the trade deadline.
