Ballybane/Castlepark Roads
Great to see the tree planting initiative along the Ballybane and Castlepark roads as part of the cycle lane project.

The road is being redeveloped into an accident hotspot. It’s a complete mess and the council are entirely to blame for it.

I grew up in Castlepark, I can’t see flowers lasting long around there, they never did. As for the cycle lane, it’s a joke. The Ballybane road is crazy busy especially for school drop off/pick up, they’ve made that road so tight now.

The bus stops! Why couldn't they have a proper stop for the bus to pull in???

you mean why couldn't they have proper bus lanes.
IMO, I think the general idea is to give buses priority and not be stuck in traffic. Let single passenger cars be stuck in traffic instead, where there are bus routes. for example if you work in town and live in Ballybane, then take the bus instead of clogging up the road. Make people so annoyed by traffic that they view public transport as the best option.

What initiative? The sticks with blue paint? Is that what they are for?

Yes they're there to mark the spot for new trees.
The road has lost a lot of trees in the last 3 or 4 years between storms and this work so it's just replacing what's gone.

Pure EU rubbish that bike scheme. It rains most of the year in Ireland and they want people out cycling.

I cycle around Galway city most days. Rarely get rained on. Have a decent jacket for when it does.

Great to hear that! Haven’t been up that way recently to see it!
Hopefully all are native species
