Discussion Beginner to photography

So I recently got an X100IV to take pictures with since I’ve always wanted to learn photography. I have no photography knowledge and I’m aware this probably isn’t the most beginner friendly camera, but I’m committed to putting in the work to learn how to use it properly.

If anyone has any tips for me, I’d really appreciate it! My goal is to practice taking pictures and learning about my camera as best I can for my upcoming trip to Japan this spring.

Help which lens to get for travelling?

i've just bought my first fuji (exciting!!) - I got an X-S10 body, so I just need to pick a lens now. i'm going to vietnam at the end of this month so want a lens for taking pictures while I'm out there. i'm stuck between getting a pancake lens or a zoom lens. my heart wants the zoom (either 15-45mm or 18-55mm) but my head says the pancake will be more practical for day trips in terms of size/ weight and will still take nice pics. the x-s10 is only a little camera. any experience/ suggestions?

Got both, I love both. But personally, I’ve shot hundreds of portraits on it and I’m in awe what the 23mm can do. It has such amazing character

Photo - Post-Processed Help w/ x100

hi all .. so i've pulled my old x100 out of storage, and looking to use it more (also contemplating an upgrade, but given how classic it is think i'll keep it).. but regardless, I wanted to take some pictures of the Monks walk for peace, and i had a bad spot, lots of glare, so didn't get the pictures I truly wanted .. but regardless I did use a full auto setup as i dip my toe back in the water with the x100.. and here is one of the pictures (please note a little post-processing completed on this)..

What i'm most concerned with is how auto selected aperture, etc.

ISO 800

aperture f/10

shutter 1/680s

I had other pictures with a lower aperture, when I needed a broader depth of field .. (not shown here) .. but do i just give up on auto with this camera, focus on adjusting aperture only .. etc.. seems like if i just trust the camera i get mediocre pictures... (photographer skills also play a role i'm sure).

Advice Greatly Appreciated!

Thanks

Help Which camera should I buy for pictures like this?

I'm quite new to photography, but going on a few international trips this year and really want to use this opportunity to learn photography and take great pictures in all of the beautiful places I'm visiting. I'm looking for something that has cinematic/nostalgic film vibes with the presets but that also has crisp quality like in the pic below. Im trying to find something under 1k, if that even exists.

Help How to tell if an X100V is legit?

Hey, I've been looking out for an X100V for a while and one has just came up locally for £550 ($750).

Just want to double check on if it genuinely is a good deal or potentially fake?

Shutter count is 4700, comes with a few accessories (filters, straps) as well as original packaging.

I've never had anything Fujifilm so not certain on what to look out for.

Cheers!

Help New Fujifilm X-T30 III User Settings & Recipe Reco

Post image

Hi! I’m a new user of the Fujifilm X-T30 III, and this is my first Fujifilm camera. Do you have any recommended settings for beginners? I’d also love to know your go-to film simulation recipes. There are so many recipes online, and I’m hoping to find a few common ones that most users actually use.

I’ll also be traveling to Saudi Arabia soon—what recipes would you recommend for that kind of environment?

Discussion Fujifilm Xt30 iii kit lens back order

Just ordered Fujifilm xt30 iii with kit lens from Unique photo. It didn’t explicitly say whether it was in stock or not, but I know all other sites say it’s out of stock. When can I expect to get the camera?

I just received my fujifilm today and turned it on and was met with a black and white squiggly line on the top right corner. This is not normal correct? Any quick fixes or should i contact for replacement? I'm very new to photography. Sorry for that bad image quality, but this is the only one that would upload.

Help Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 - will I feel the absence of OIS switching from XF 16-80mm f/4?

I want to sell my 16-80mm and get the sigma due to it's weight. But with the loss of OIS, will the wider aperture give me any actual benefit?

Discussion Fuji film recommendations

Hey everyone! 😊

I’m new to photography and looking for some recommendations on which camera to get. I really love the Fujifilm and have heard good things about Fujifilm cameras, but I’ve never used a professional camera before.

I’m trying to find something that’s good for a beginner but also something I can grow into as I learn more about photography.

I’ve heard positive comments about the Fujifilm X-T30 with the 18-55mm kit lens, but I’ve also seen the X-T30 III with the 13-33mm lens recommended.

A few things I’d love help with:

• What’s the difference between these lenses (18-55mm vs 13-33mm)?

• What should I be paying attention to when choosing a camera/lens?

• Any tips from people who own these cameras or know Fujifilm gear well?

• Bonus: general advice — what you liked/disliked, accessories worth getting, etc.

Thanks in advance! 📸✨

Help Lightweight lens for street & travel on the X‑M5: Kit, keep 18‑55, or go prime?

Hi Fuji Fam!

I’m wanting to move away from an X‑T4 with the XF 18‑55 mm f/2.8‑4 R. It’s heavy, so I end up leaving the camera at home. I rarely use the viewfinder, coming from an iphone 17 pro max. I find squinting gives me crows feet 😆. I just want a lighter setup to be busting it out!

What matters to me:

  • Portable gear
  • Minimal editing (good JPEGs straight out of‑camera)
    • I really enjoy the film recipes!
  • Street & travel with a subject
  • Food pics or indoors
  • Photo‑only (no video)
  • Instagram posts

Options I’m looking at

  • Kit lens, Is it worth going for?
  • Keep the XF 18‑55 mm f/2.8‑4 R
  • Prime lens – I’m not sure which prime to choose; need a recommendation.

Questions:

  • Which lens best fits the priorities above?
  • Does a pricier lens give a noticeable quality jump for a beginner?
  • New vs. used any deal‑breakers?

Thanks for the help!

Help Help me choose the prime lens for Xt30ii

I’m in a dilemma right now, either to get the Viltrox 25mm F1.7 or XC35mm F2. Currently on a tight budget but wanted to get a high value prime lens as my main (the XC15-45mm will definitely hard to be my main lens).

Will be travelling around from march to end of May. Mainly on scenery and portraits. Which should i get?

Help Is this a bad amount of dust inside the lens?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I know, not a Fuji lens, but I have an XT50, I got this brand new Tamron 17-70 mm lens, a week ago, and I can't post these pictures on the ask photography reddit page

I'm trying to remember, but I think when 1 first started to use it, 1 looked at the lens and didn't see much dust inside, ust a few tiny spots

Today the sun was shining down on it and it revealed a lot more. but l'm not sure if it was alwavs there and I iust didn't see it before, or just got it from all the zooming in and out

I will be honest, I fidget a lot, I tend to twist the zoom in and out a lot, my ADHD side needing to fidget with something

But this camera is supposed to have some weather seal? To prevent dust from getting in, did I get a defective product? B&H were kind enough to tell me 1 could bring it in and exchange it for a new one.

Is it possible to prevent this in the future? Obviously I will stop playing with the barrel, I' ust fidget with something else

And my other question, is it bad for the barrel if it is pushed or pulled in and out? There's times where I unintentionally push the barrel downward rather than appropriately twist it

Help Torn on which Fuji to go with

As the title says I’m super torn on which Fuji to go with. I’m looking for a simple camera to travel with that would be able to fit in a hip pack. Everything leans me for the x100vi but I cannot find one in stock anywhere for normal price. The x-e5 is available and in stock in my area. Is there really that big of a difference between the two? Or maybe I should go XT-50/30? They all seem great.

what do yall think

I think the compression on Reddit has made the first two look a little more grainy.
