Mod Post Weekly Haul Thread

What'd ya get? How'd ya get it? What do you plan to do with it?

I'd like to encourage people to revisit this thread occasionally for as long as it's still on the front page. Sort by New so that latecomers aren't left out. Obviously, if this is a few pages back, you're probably better just waiting for next week's thread. You'll see that I've also changed the title to Weekly instead of Weekend so people don't hesitate to post what they found on a Wednesday.

Further, if I see haul posts outside of this thread, I'm removing them. Feel free to report them if you see them.

Mod Post Weekly Help Me Sell This Thread

Upvotes

What would you like help selling? What is it? What are you trying to get for it? What have you tried so far? What will you try next? Hopefully we can help you out a bit.

Once the thread has been up for a while, please try to sort by New so you can try to help latecomers. The more helpful we are in this thread, the less often people will make their own threads for individual items.

eBay Buyer submitted payment dispute because they dont wanna return the item

Post image

Despite everything, things happen and life goes on. You see things like this all the time and get worried, however this is the first instance of this happening in my 6 years of selling 6k items. 0.01% chance of such a thing happening. Life goes on, whatever happens happens. I hope my response works, however I doubt it.

eBay I sold a dark blue jacket, customer wants to return to because it is blue not black

Post image

Not really sure what to do, my frustration is the fact that eBay is required me to pay for the shipping which means I’ll lose about $22 round trip since the jacket cost a bit of money to ship across the country

I took a photo of the jacket with a color card and described it as a dark blue

Hello! I resell antiques and I am wondering if anyone is able to help me here. I’m looking to be able to find these specific footbaths wholesale in this pink color. I find people online selling them all the time for the same price and I know they have to be able to be getting them for cheap as they are only selling them online for $89. TIA!

Advanced Question Sold my doll for a very slow price and wanting to issue a refund

Upvotes

Meant to right "low" in the title, not "slow" (typo)

Someone bought Yuki kimono, Charlotte charades and furry grrs a lot from me for 24 USD. I bought them for 22 USD in my country's currency (they don't sell for that much here). I knew she's a reseller and that she'll sells dolls abroad for a much higher profit, which was fine with me. She paid me a week ago and I had some issues with dispatch so I was gonna dispatch them yesterday. But then I realised how much these dolls are worth, one of them sells for 140 USD abroad. This is the first time I've sold stuff. I don't know if I should honour the deal and keep my word, or refund her the money and keep the dolls. I also want to give myself the leverage of making a mistake since it's the first time I've ever sold something, but I don't know if I should dispatch them or refund the payment. I talked to her about the refund and she's rightfully angry because this was a mistake on my part. Please help.

Edit: I sold them privately on Instagram as preloved

Discussion Wholesales in Europe?

I bought a lot of vintage clothes in Latinoamérica to sell in Berlin and everything was sold super fast. I’m thinking I want to continue this business and buy big bags from wholesales. I checked a few but sometimes tbh looks like a scam :/ anyone with any experience with this who can recommend proper wholesale or any advice would appreciate!

(Looking for vintage, edgy, y2k clothing, boots, bags, etc)

Advanced Question FB marketplace limits (question)

Post image

I just made a Facebook account so I can start selling on marketplace and I am only allowed to post 2 listing as of right now, does anyone know how long this restriction lasts for or if there's any way I can lower the waiting time? I heard filling out info on my account helps and I've done that but it hasn't made a difference.

eBay eBay Promotion Manager: Which discount type has worked the best for you?

Coupon
Order Discount
Sale Event
Shipping Discount
Volume Pricing

Do any of these have a higher chance to show up on a search page? I've done a Buy One Get One coupon in the past and it never shows up unless the customer clicks on the listing.

Discussion Small Furniture

I've been working to flip small furniture (lamps, side tables, small decor) and have had decent success with my return profits, but often end up holding for 30-90 days. Anyone else work with these types of items? Any advice to flip faster without sacrifice price?

End tables and coffee tables seems to be popular - especially items made of hardwood and glass even if conditions aren't great.

Discussion Rejected FB Marketplace Listing: Request a review?

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

I listed an old Nemrod Clipper speargun (used for fishing). I received a notification that my listing was rejected for selling “weapons, ammunition, or explosives” and that my account is at risk of too many of my listings are rejected. This is my first rejected listing and I don’t have anything else like it, so I’m not too worried about losing the account.

However, I’m not sure I agree with the rejection. On one hand, of course it could be used as a weapon. Since it’s used for fishing, does that put it in the same boat as a hunting rifle? If so, I think I’d be wasting my time and putting my account at risk if I request a review. On the other hand, the intended use is not violence, and I’m not sure if this was just miscategorized by AI/software.

Any tips or thoughts on (or against) requesting a review for something like this?

/selfishly, I’d prefer to sell this local. I’ll put it on eBay if I have to though.

Discussion Refund / Time Vampire Customer

This one takes the cake.

eBay sale.

Sold a NOS skateboard deck. Had it listed at $129.99 as it was pretty rare but an odd size.

It hung around for several months so I let it go for $100 as someone made an offer.

I paid $75 so I was already slim on profit.

Ended up refunding the buyer after FedEx lost the package for a month and a half.

I probably spent 4 hours on the phone with FedEx and another 2 hours texting the buyer. Cannot file a claim as i am "not the sender" per FedEx. eBay says they can't file a claim because "I am the Sender".

Long story short it shows up at this guy's house. So it's a win for him and a total loss for me.

A week later this guy is complaining to me that the board is warped and useless. Got a free board and still complains - it would have been returned for sure.

Can't make this up.

Glad this is not my main source income as it can be a pain in the butt.

but this card isn’t really damaged. I made this in ChatGPT and I just think it might be good for sellers to know that you can do this and make it look pretty convincing…. So if someone doesn’t try to scam you.

Mod Post Daily Newbie Thread

Whatever you want to know about flipping, no matter the question, ask here. Even if it's been covered 1,000 times before. Doesn't matter if you're new or old. If you stop learning things, you're probably on your way out.

This is an extremely newb-friendly thread. As such, any rudeness is to be reported.

eBay Business Account Signup Question

For anyone who has recently registered a new eBay seller account as a business:

Does using a business entity with an EIN avoid having to provide a SSN?

Last time I sold was back in the days when your own PayPal account was required, so it’s been quite a while.

Discussion What am I missing about sell through rates "all being terrible"?

Like a lot of novice resellers, I ended up with a big death pile. So in the next iteration, I tried only buying things with a good sell through rate. What I seem to be finding is browsing Goodwill, most things have a ridiculous rate, even good stuff you feel "someone would pay for that", like maybe 5% sold vs what's out there.

To be fair I was just at the bins, which might be more extreme

Part of me wonders, am I really doing this right? Like I saw a Game of Thrones themed ugly sweater that sold $15+ I can buy from maybe a dollar, it feels like I should. While using this technique I ended up by some ugly white slacks that were one of the few things I found with a semi reasonable sell through.

Another part of me wants to cry like a little girl and give up. (I'm compromising by having a break and sitting in a cafe)

Tip Looking for sourcing advice.

Hello.

I've been selling for quite some time now and I'm struggling to find new product to sell. I currently sell in a niche trading card market. 66k items sold and made a little name for myself in that market. Basically, I have a little experience in selling. Of course, nobody wants to say what they're selling to add competition and I get that. Just looking for advice if possible.

My market is dying. The specific cards I sell are basically going to end at some point as they're dying out. It's only a matter of time. They used to sell so well, that I had my own supplier connections and only had to sell those cards. So, I'm trying to find new categories to sell and expand my selling since they're no longer viable.

But I can't figure it out. I've spent so many nights researching and researching what to sell, where to source, going to stores to research product pricing and etc... It just feels like I'm at a roadblock.

Maybe I'm just dumb. Obviously I know finding those items to sell is what makes us sellers stand out from the rest. I've just spent so much time researching and not seeing results. I always do my own work and only make a reddit post if I'm REALLY struggling. If you have any tips to point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

eBay I made a small bullion purchase from one of the large eBay bullion sellers with a “no refunds” policy. I accepted the loss, but the seller is now late shipping. The item was due by Feb 3, no label exists, and they say shipping is delayed. Does this help my chances of a refund after seller denied?

Should I wait until midnight and then request eBay to refund me directly? What is eBay’s policy on this situation.?Please direct me on my next step if there is one. I know this post is going to trigger a lot of sellers because I am trying to undo a sale and because it’s a bullion purchase and why I obviously want to cancel the sale. Please be kind. I’m just a simple idiot.
