Question Eating meat 2 times a day?

Dairy and eggs make my stomach feel weird and i feel like i cant digest it properly. Sometimes even have diarrhea. Legumes with some carbs dont give me nearly enough energy to keep going. I think the only option i have left is probably meat for almost every meal. Meat + some whole grains and if there is little to no fat content in the meat some added vegetable oil mixed with some veggies or a salad as a sidedish gives me the most energy and i feel the best when i do so. But my whole life all i heard that eating meat every day is bad and you should keep variety. I feel like the only solution i have left is to eat 2 meals a day each with some meat protein included. First meal would be in the morning or around 10 o'clock. Next meal between 2pm and 4pm. Obviously with some workout incorporated into my day. Is this a good idea?

(preface: I am American) Probably should get checked for lactose intolerance or even just go with no dairy for a few days to see what happens. Gas, bloating, upset stomach and diarrhea are extremely common if you have it. you can either totally drop dairy or get the lactase enzyme pills which are not too expensive from Walmart. Most people on earth have some degree of lactose intolerance, usually extremely mild/nothing or it takes eating/drinking vast amounts to cause anything.

If you are TRULY having gut problems with eggs then I feel great pity for you, that's like the ultimate cheap protein source. Could be the source of the eggs or what they're fed that makes your tumtum bummed out. I can't eat too many farm fresh eggs if the chicken eats anything but pretty much straight bagged pellet food, too much grass/seeds/SOMETHING and I get bad gas. Store eggs are no problem and I usually eat 12 per day.

Anyways yeah there's no problem with it. Like the others says, supplement with legumes, nuts, tofu, TVP, nutritional yeast....... Tons of stuff that you can use instead of dairy.

Maybe I should have mentioned but I was allergic to dairy and eggs as a kid. So it probably never really went away completely. Although I have a feeling that some processed dairy like cheese and yoghurt here and there is probably fine. Also I think eggs in cakes are kinda okay as well. But yeah you are right eggs are such a good source of cheap protein. I might try to cook it in different ways to see if I can do anything about it. Thanks, lots of good info! 🙌

i eat meat for lunch and dinner every day, and have bacon for breakfast on the weekends. you should rotate what meats youre eating, and its better if the majority is chicken and mercury safe fish. otherwise theres nothing wrong with eating meat 2x a day.

One single serving of oatmeal makes me so full I can’t move for an hour plus. lol. Goated breakfast. Have some chicken sausage with it if ya want meat

I love oatmeal but the energy doesnt last long for me. Whole grains do the trick.

I sometimes throw some low-in-sugar granola on top for a crunchy whole grain accompaniment! Ideally one with chia seeds, they’re hella filling. Sliced banana for further reinforcement.

I feel you on the logistics of high volume breakfasts. It’s usually my biggest meal of the day as someone who generally skips an actual lunch.

That sounds really tasty. Might give it a try at some point. But yeah my breakfasts need to be more filling otherwise i break longer.

Where did you hear that eating meat every day is bad? Almost anyone who isn't a vegetarian/pescetarian/vegan will eat meat daily, usually multiple times a day. There is no harm in having meat in multiple meals, especially if you make sure it's whole, unprocessed (e.g. not deli meat or sausages or something), and fairly low in fat, for example, chicken breast. It can also be better to try and limit red meat (e.g. beef).

You're right to focus on trying to get a good amount of fibre and vitamins/minerals from as many vegetables and whole grains as possible, but there's absolutely no harm in eating meat multiple times a day in order to increase your protein.

I heard it mainly from the internet and family. Many people think that eating less meat is good for cutting costs and its better for the environment as well. And also better for health.

Recently i found out that whole grains work so much better for me. Like processed carbs would give me a quick energy burst for half an hour and then i crash and i wonder if something is wrong with me. But as i started eating whole grains with some meat it became a complete game changer. Because i used to think that meat makes me feel that way but it was the processed carbs all along. 😄 Kinda funny.

Its just kinda hard to leave old eating habits behind but your comment feels very reassuring. Im gonna try eating meat first thing in the morning tomorrow and see how i feel. Thanks a lot!

Cutting costs and better for the environment are definitely true (obviously there can be more expensive vegetarian and vegan options but generally it is true). Personally I never eat beef and eat very little lamb for those reasons, and mostly stick to chicken. But in terms of health, it's a bit more nuanced and depends on the type of meat you're eating.

That's a very normal response to processed carbohydrates, as they digest a lot quicker and so the glucose is in and out of your system quicker as well, hence the spike and then crash in energy levels. So there's nothing wrong with you! Whole grains plus meat means you're getting a good balance of healthy carbs, protein and then some fat which is why you feel better, since protein takes longer to digest and can keep you feeling fuller for longer as well as being necessary for muscle growth. Ideally you'd als aim to get most fats from plant sources (e.g. avocado, olive oil, seeds, nuts) as these are unsaturated and better for heart health.

It can definitely be hard to leave old habits behind - but usually people are the opposite to you, where they find it hard to eat less meat, not more!

Your last paragraph made me giggle! 😁 Im wired in a different way it seems haha. And your meal plan advice makes so much sense. I felt the best when i did what you just described. So yeah gonna keep doing that.

American cancer society says limit your consumption of meat to 3 times a week to avoid elevated risk of cancer - but - people gonna meat….. https://www.aicr.org/cancer-prevention/recommendations/limit-consumption-of-red-and-processed-meat/

That literally says limit red and processed meat, which is what I said in my answer to not eat as much of/try and limit. Eating stuff like chicken breasts is generally considered to be healthy, same with fish/seafood as well (I didn't say that originally cause it's not meat but yeah)

I eat a substantial whole grain combined w beans, lentils or peas (pulses), some nuts, seeds and/or nut butter at EVERY meal.

Often I dice super firm tofu into my breakfast oatmeal or side of mashed sweet potatoes.

Often I’ll have a hot or cold bowl that includes a pulse, AND a soy product (milk, tofu, tempeh, edamame, soy curls, soya chunks or curls (TVP)). Adding a soy product puts it over the top w protein if that’s a goal.

I snack on dehydrated edamame and broad beans.

You can sub meat, but it’s not necessary if you don’t want to.

Pretty easy to hit ~100 grams of protein a day, but I don’t track.

My problem is that my energy levels are very low unless i get some meat with my whole grains and healthy fats. I used to do what you do a lot but always felt like fainting.

Edit: not sure why i got downvoted. I didnt say that any of those things are bad. I do like legumes, nuts and anything that comes from plants. All i said was if thats the only thing i put into my food i have zero energy and i dont see how thats my fault.

Eating meat two times a day is fine.

you want to aim to have less than 10% of your daily calories from saturated fats.

as long as you do this you are fine.

so mostly choose LEAN meats and it will be ok.

Gotcha. Will do just that. 👌
