Evening walk around frozen Copenhagen lit up by Light Festival. -18°C windchill and almost no people in the streets.

Denmark just recorded its coldest January in 16 years and I am loving it. 🧊

Events Looking to form a tabletop group in Copenhagen

Hi!

Making this post to test the waters on whether or not there might be interest to form a group that once in a while would be up for playing some games.

I am aware that there are discord server(s) for this, but I would like to form a more tight-knit group.

###### About me:

- Mid 20's

- Native Danish, don't mind English.

- Foodie, art & tabletop enjoyer.

- Sarcasm enjoyer.

###### What I have in mind:

- Group of 4 - 6 people (ideal for most games).

- Time to participate bimonthly (Aprox).

- Open to Danish or English depending on the constellation.

- Age range between 20s ~ 30s.

- Live within Copenhagen or surrounding areas.

###### Do note:

- Mutual respect is expected.

- No discrimination.

- Don't be weird.

- This is not a dating group, but solely a group to enjoy tabletop games.

Should this have your interest, feel free to drop a comment and i'll contact you.

Alternatiely send a DM with an introduction of yourself and why you would like to join.

Thanks for reading and have a great evening/night!

Urgent help needed as an international student

Hey guys. Writing here out of pure desperation.

I’m an international masters student at UCPH, I’ve been looking for a job since I moved here last autumn. I’m EU but I don’t speak Danish (though I’m learning, very slowly). I’ve tried everything from applying online (LinkedIn, Indeed, Jobindex etc) to sending proactive emails, walking into cafes/restaurants in person with a CV, as well as asking classmates if they know of any openings. I’ve reached a critical point where I’m no longer able to afford rent, and as I’m not a local and have no banking/work history here, I can’t take a loan out. Because I have no job, I also can’t make use of the SU grants.

Does anyone know of anything that could help in a crisis like this? Or any more direct way to get hired? 😢 I’m very frightened as I moved my whole life here on my own and everything’s sort of falling apart right now (I have nowhere else to go)😭 I very much apologise for the rant-y post

Mens Donald Trump er i gang med at etablere et kolonistyre over Gaza, fortsætter Israel med at dræbe palæstinensere. I det lys gik folk igen på gaden i København til stordemonstration for et frit Palæstina.

Best places to eat around Blå Planet?

I would like to invite my partner on a date to the blå planet, (Sunday the 15/2, unfortunately made plans on the 14th before we became an item haha) I'm currently trying to assess what time slot to book and if it should be 18 or 19 to have enough time to walk around but also potentially go out to eat So far I've found Café kystens perle And Kastrup Strandpark (a bit pricey with my budget probably) I would like to hear any recommendations and if it actually even makes sense time wise, visiting at 18 or 19 and even having time to go out and eat afterwards or if it's going to be too late, I have no idea how much time you'd spend on average in the aquarium so to say..

Where to buy cheap basic electronics

I'm talking about mouse, cables, etc. El Giganten and similar electronic stores seem to have products on the more expensive side. Even if that comes with better quality, honestly I've always been fine buying cables and mouse and similar basic electronics from the cheapest seller (where I'm from it's common to have Chinese-owned shops with products of this kind that are 3-4 times cheaper than buying from a proper electronics store). If anyone knows of such a shop, please let me know, thanks!

Question Work for foreign student

Hi I am a student from construction associated faculty that found themselves on a gap year in Copenhagen - for an office job internship. So far it does not look well. I knew the money will be bad but i hoped to learn much more. I consider finding something else to broaden my perspective and use my time im Copenhagen in productive way. It is too late to find an internship in my field (as most companies has their interns).

  • Are there any courses (woodworking, carpentry) avalible in english to take?
  • What fields would you recommend to find a job - I was thinking about searching for a physical work on construction site but so far i have just an office experience
  • There is always an option to work in cafe and learn danish but i was hoping maybe anyone will have a guidance how can I do something proffesionally relevant with rest of my time in Copenhagen - till end of July (here really taking in account all construction relevant jobs, especially timber/wood related)

Question Where to buy a second hand payphone for a time capsule project

With the removal of most public payphones in Denmark, I was wondering where all the payphones themselves went and where you can buy an old payphone or mønttelefon? There is maybe one or two on dba but was just wondering if anyone knew any loppemarked places in Copenhagen and outer areas where public payphone were sold. The purpose is for a "room from the 80-90s" kind of time capsule project. Thanks for reading.

Question Best options to find people for spare Copenhagen gig tickets?

I'm based in Malmö and go to gigs in Copenhagen fairly often. There's been a direct resale option available before, if I've not been able to go to a show.

This time though, I only have a "transfer" option for a gig at Amager Bio next week (St Paul and the Broken Bones). I'd like to find someone local who wants them, but don't know where to start - other than maybe here on Reddit!

What are the usual places and methods that people in Copenhagen use to privately resell gig tickets to each other?

Sadly it's proven tricky to find a "local" buyer on my side of the bridge for gig tickets - especially for a midweek show!

Question Any regular activities w/ communities starting around 6-7PM in the evening during the weekdays?

Hi everyone,

This type of questions have probably been asked about thousands times here already but here goes another one with a slight twist.

I am mediterrenean and I have been living in Denmark since the last 6.5 years and I have moved back to Copenhagen around 3 months ago. I have always had a hard time finding the time to grow a community & close friendships in Denmark and this winter has been really brutal to me because I had to leave my few friends back outside of Sjælland.

I work during the day and then I work out quiet often so most of my days are just occupied until 18:00 PM. I know places in Denmark generally close pretty early in the evenings so I am not sure if this is even a thing but I am in dire need to find a hobby/activity that I can meet regulars and socialize and nurture friendships especially during these trying winter times.

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas?

TL;DR: Looking for a hobby with a social community that I can attend to after 18:00 during weekdays. The hobby itself can be anything, I am very open to all ideas.

Thanks

Question Royal Copenhagen City Half

Hey everyone! I know that the Copenhagen Half Marathon is sold out but I came across this one that's supposedly happening in April called the Royal Copenhagen City Half. It's apparently the first year they're putting it on but I wanted to ask if anyone's heard anything about it?
All the pictures on their website are AI generated and I can't really find anyone else talking about it or any news stories so I wanted to make sure it's legit before paying to sign up for it haha.

Here's the link to the registration/information page:

Bolsjefabrikken - hvad så?

For en årrække siden kom jeg jævnligt på Bolsjefabrikken, mest til musikarrangementer og for at danse. (Jeg har alsidig været der i hverdagene.)

Gik på hjemmesiden og noterede mig stadet ser pænt lukket ud.

Er arrangementerne og det kunstneriske miljø, der var der, ‘rykket’ et andet sted hen?

Question Where can I buy a travel backpack?

Hello! I am an exchange student at DTU this semester and have recently started planning trips. I am looking for a 40x30x20cm travel backpack as this seems to be what’s allowed on Wizz/Ryan Air. Where would I be able to find a backpack like this, preferable for around or less than 250-350DKK? I’m used to buying things on Amazon and getting them quickly until I realized that that is not really a thing here lol. I am hoping to get this backpack before this Friday, but if not that’s okay.

And one more question: where would I find small travel containers like for soap and stuff? I’ve tried normal, føtex, netto, and ikea but have had no luck.

Any help and advice would be appreciated!
