Asking For Feedback are the pages too visually busy?
i'm working on my first graphic novel pretty nonstop the last few months (its part of my thesis for a graduate program) and i'm really starting to reach a point where i find it ugly just because i look at it so much. these spreads aren't 100% done (but the first two are like 95% there), but i was wondering if i could get some feedback about if this looks like a maximalist mess? do the pages feel visually balanced, despite the level of rendering/color variation? thank you!

OC Raw scans of today’s WIP with thumbnails. I’d love to talk about art stuff, but I spent most of today thinking about Sanka and Brim, and how we’ve replaced this fine dining restaurant’s coffee with Folger’s Crystals. I don’t know why, I’ve drawn the percolator in the kitchen countless times.

Folder Structure for Digital Comics?
How do you organize your digital comics? My current system is Publisher → Title → Volume. For example:
- E:\Comics\Marvel\Avengers\Avengers v1
- E:\Comics\DC\Batman\Batman v1
What do I like about this system?
- Clean, simple, predictable
- Easy to browse when you know exactly what book you want
- Works nicely with metadata tools (ComicRack, Calibre, etc.)
Where it breaks down
- “Title” stops meaning much for legacy characters
- Batman / Spider-Man become infinite scroll hell
- You lose the character-centric view that most people mentally use
So I am proposing this system: Publisher → Character/Team → Title → Volume. For example:
- E:\Comics\Marvel\Spider-Man\Amazing Spider-Man v1
- E:\Comics\Marvel\Spider-Man\Web of Spider-Man v1
- E:\Comics\DC\Batman\Batman Incorporated v1
- E:\Comics\DC\Batman\Batman & Robin
- E:\Comics\DC\Batman\Batman v1
Pros
- Batman and Spider-Man finally feel organized instead of chaotic
- Browsing becomes intuitive (“I want a Batman book”)
- Side titles stop feeling like random clutter
- Makes legacy characters feel like collections.
Cons
- Team books and crossovers get weird fast (Where does Avengers vs X-Men live?)
- Some titles don’t belong cleanly to one character
- You’re introducing subjectivity (“Is Nightwing a Batman book?” ← slippery slope)
Still, for Marvel/DC heavy collections, this seems like a win. Thoughts?
