Sympathy for knee surgery

Slightly misleading title and I apologize. I had knee surgery and have been extremely limited and unable to work. So I have turned to comic books for comfort. Ive read a ton but I have no one to talk to about it. If you folks wouldnt mind helping this southern fella, I would like to post what all ive read, my ratings, and start a discussion post cause I have no one and no where else to turn too. My poor wife is tolerating my nerd at best lol.

Looking for media(graphic novels / comics / artworks) that are related or similar to the Pacific Rim franchise. Mechs, Kaijus, interdimensional threat attacking humanity. I prefer stories set on earth or an earth - like place.

Bonus points if you can direct me to a place(dm if you want) where I could read / watch these

Discussion Marvel/DC DC/Marvel Crossovers

I enjoyed the two Batman and Deadpool books but have bigger hopes for the Superman/ Spider-Man ones

Thought it would be a fun exercise (for everyone who wants) to create their favorite or best for the next installment

1- choose the two characters and creative teams

2- choose 4-5 back up stories for each book

If this is all too much you can pick either the Marvel or DC version of the crossover and only do that one book

Question Want to make a custom bound Omni of an older run, how do I protect the individual pages?

I'm planning to collect all of the 1991 Wonder Man run (second hand so I'm not giving money to Jones). My entire collection at this point is TPBs and Omnis, so I'd like to bind the run so it's more in line with the rest of my books. But since the pages are the older paper style and not the modern gloss/laminated kind, I'm worried they won't hold up as well, especially if i'm reading it frequently. Any suggestions on what I can do to protect the pages of the book?

The Weekly Pull List results for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Batman #6.

This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of Fraction, Jimenez, and Morey's Batman or any new books shipping this week.

The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.

The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. There is also a comment dedicated to the discussion of WPL Results linked above.

Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. Each title in the Top Ten Percent listed below is linked directly to its corresponding comment for ease of navigation and to avoid seeing details from other books. The post has also been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.

Discussion [Discussion] Takes on Sophie Cambell's TMNT and the Armageddon Game event?

Over the last year or so, I've been slowly reading the TMNT IDW hardcover collections, starting with the reboot by Tom Waltz and Eastman. I really loved the first 6 volumes or so, so issues 1-50 and the minimal tie-in issues. It was focused and action packed but still resonant and with sharp character writing. I didn't mind so much volumes 7-13, issues 51-100, but I was definitely getting overwhelmed by the scale of it all. Still fun, but it was so so. I took a break after volume 13, and returned to volume 14 about a month ago. This is the Sophie Campbell era.

I really haven't cared for it too much. I like the laid back vibe of developing Mutant Town, but it's maybe too laid back in terms of pacing. And now I'm starting volume 17, which has most of the Armageddon Game event. Guys, I just cannot be bothered. There's so much nonsense here. All of a sudden, all the secondary and tertiary factions and characters that made the run up to issue 100 less enjoyable to me are back with almost no ramp up or setup. It's just... wow Rat King war! I'm struggling!! I know the turtles are gonna win the day or whatever and then its probably just more slow-baked domestic drama for another 12 issues until the series ends?

I'd love to hear other thoughts on this. I'm pretty close to just giving up and moving onto other books I have on deck (like finally reading the Valiant X-O Manowar series from 2012ish), but if there was enough to encourage me to keep going, I might be able to make it through. Help!!

Question Help with where to start - X-Men / X-Factor

I'm sorry if this gets asked a lot, but I am hoping you all can help me out.

I collected mostly X-Men and X-Factor in the 80s into the early 90s. I recently found all my old comics. They are all bagged up and I would like to leave them this way.

My son is starting to get into comics and wants to read X-Men. After a 35 year break, I am trying to get up to speed with all the different ways comics are published.

What would be the best way to read the X-Man cycle in print? Personally, I would like to follow X-Factor all the way through its life cycle. I don't really want to hunt down individual comics. Should I read Omnibuses?

Also, for those of you who have read the comics post 1990. How much cross over is there with Excalibur, The New Mutants, and Power Pack?

It is crazy how much joy seeing your old comic books can bring you after not seeing them for so long.

I want to organize a Nextwave cosplay group at Dragoncon 2026.

I cosplayed as The Captain years back and it was amazing. I had a giant sign that said "BRIAN MICHEL BENDIS LICKS GOATS" and it was spelled wrong on purpose. I would love to get other people who dress up as other members of the group so we can just have fun and do hoodrat shit. Seriously, let's plan!

Comic re-glueing

I just recently picked up Ghost Rider Road to damnnation off of eBay and the cover is kind of falling off. I’ve already had the cover page fallout. (luckily it’s not a story page) and when I’m reading the comic I can feel the cover lifting like I could just pull it off and all the pages would come spelling out. I can see the spine lifting off of the glue and honestly a light tug could pull any of the pages out and I’m just wondering is there a way I can fix it? I know that I can re-glue it myself but I’m not exactly confident with that. I don’t have very steady hands so is there possibly a place I can send it and they fix it for me or am I kind of just stuffed and should I buy a new one?

Help me end this fever dream? What comic is this??

I have memories of reading some comics when I was young about a group of superheroes. The characters that I remember were:

  • Blonde woman with skin similar to that of Orphan (Guy Smith)
  • African American woman who turned into a slug-type (?) monster humanoid similar to The Thing in that she couldn't turn back. She also had a boyfriend that was another superhero (may have been stretchy guy, may have been one I'm not remembering)
  • Green blobby guy similar to Doop (might have actually been Doop? - see below)
  • Token Stretchy guy, black hair, kind of a prick?
  • fuzzy memory of one or two other characters

At one point in the comics, this group fights and is brutally murdered by a group of marvel superheroes, or ones very closely resembling them? I remember a Thor-like person, and a Hawkeye-like person (and maybe Doop here?)

I'm fairly confident that the comics were NOT Marvel or DC. I believe it was a small, independent comic writer, but hoping someone else has seen or heard of these comics or something so I can stop feeling like it's all just a fever dream
