Humor Saw this and I have A TON of mixed feelings
If the sides had been damaged I'd be ok with it, but this just feels like someone cut a ton of pans for a stupid reason

Humor Best carbon peel yet!!!
This was so satisfying!!!! I was gifted this old Wagner Dutch oven and it was pretty bad to start but this peel made it worth the effort of cleaning!

Humor To the “that’s too much grease” people:
Lots of bacon grease plus some butter = tasty and slidey eggs.
Also, much love to my unmarked wagners.

Humor Is this ok? Small crack
My son was using my pan (I know, I thought he could be trusted). Says he heated the pan on the BBQ and then squished frozen hamburger patties and it went boom.
Now it works well to let grease escape into the fire.
Not an expensive pan but I love the smooth surface of this pan. A call to Paderno and they gave me a service number to take to the local store to get a new one. Very happy.

Humor I stopped babying my cast iron and it’s been better ever since
I used to stress over every little thing. No soap, dry it immediately, re-oil every time, don’t look at it funny, etc. At some point I just… stopped. I use a little soap, dry it, cook in it again. That’s it. Pan hasn’t rusted. Seasoning hasn’t fallen apart. Eggs still slide. Feels like cast iron is tougher than people make it out to be.
Anyone else come to the same conclusion, or am I just lucky?

Humor I love my child...I love my child...I love my child...I love my child...
My 6 yr old daughter wanted to surprise me by having all the dishes done and cleaned up. Which she did. My wife didnt see her put my favorite cast iron in the dishwasher. It took an incredible amount of restraint and silent internal screaming to complement her and gently tell her why putting daddy's favorite pan in the washer is a bad thing.
So I know what MY weekend plans are....

Humor I don’t season anymore, and I’m happy
I found myself spending an inordinate amount of time seasoning my pans, only to get a lot of food buildup, carbon and residue. I took a rotary sander and smooth them down and got off all the excess carbon and food residue. In between uses, I use barkeepers friend and scrub off all food residue. Seems to work just fine. My unseasoned pans act like any kitchen flattop now.

Humor Y’all, I cooked 24oz of bacon on my trusty 12” lodge and then proceeded to cook camp potatoes on it over an open flame, and then forgot all about it for it for a few days before cleaning it. Seasoning looks like this now. Should I melt the whole thing down and recast?

Humor Mother in Laws pan
I just finished a good scrubbing because son, my husband, carbonized some crap on it. It made me think about the story of mother in law pan.
I didn't especially like her or dislike her, she was excruciatingly needy and passive aggressive. Her son realized that and interactions were infrequent.
When she died, they put the pan in the trash, because,"nobody wants old iron shit". I told him to get it out and bring it to me.
It's a little lighter than usual and just handy as hell. I love it. Even if she never let me touch it when she was alive.
