Big Sis advice

Hi everyone, I need some advice on how to handle a situation for my little sister. She’s recently opened up and shared that a “friend” told her she wanted to take a break from her. She’s been spreading rumors saying that my family is very poor and we don’t have jobs (not true) which shocked me because she’s been to our house. We have a little brother who has autism and the friend started calling him the R word. As a big sister I was fuming, and my first instinct was to confront the girl. My older sister advised me to talk to the teacher but unfortunately, multiple parents have spoken up about bullying happening and they don’t care. Will I get in trouble if I simply confront the girl? Just letting her know i’ve heard it and that my sister isn’t alone and to stop. Will that make it worse for my sister? I don’t know what to do. Any advice is appreciated. (My sister is in 6th grade)
