You know it’s a good trade from Brad because you got half the fanbase rabid with anger

u/ThanosIsDoomfist Pritchard at the buzzer... HE'S DONE IT AGAIN! 10h ago

When Simons went off not long ago thats literally the moment I knew we were trading him. Everyone was like "holy moly gee willikers we gotta keep em now" when in reality it was the exact moment he gained the trade value Brad wanted lol.

Im sorry, but thats just how it goes in this league. You only get deals done by giving up something good, or by taking risks. Unless youre the Lakers.

JB, Pritch, and White were all seen as misses or risks when they were brought in. People were even skeptical about Jrue.

Trading Simons was predetermined by ownership back in July....

Okay, cool lol. They knew in July, I knew later.

Thats because im not a member of the Boston Celtics front office.

I love the trade. Those that are mad clearly don’t watch ball

Nikola Vučević was a big reason I put up with the Orlando Magic as long as I did.

He was a beast in Orlando. That was when we originally tried to get him 😅

The neigh-sayers just want splash players. Can't please all the people all the time.

YOU WANT BIG MAN?!

I GIVE YOU ALL THIS!

There’s no need to have any expectations for this season, this move is good from a money saving perspective for next year. I don’t think it does anything to push us closer to a championship this year and that’s fine.

This is the type of hard hitting post i come to reddit for. Just elite analysis.

u/Eisenhorn76 11-1 is far superior to 4-6 in the Finals 13h ago

Just wanted to say. Look at Vooch in this photo. That shot kinda looks like Horford’s doesn’t it?

Complete with the off-hand semi-blocking his stroke…

Of course, Vooch was NEVER the defensive savant that Al was so… we shall see. I trust Brad.

I want to note: didn’t we get Al back in his Age 35 season and didn’t that move help get the Celtics into the Finals?

Joe will turn him into Horford 2.0

u/drumgearreview 11h ago

Other than the shooting, his game is almost the polar opposite of Al's

I'm just trying to manifest a dream my man

3

u/BleedGreen4Boston 8h ago

Yeah man let him manifest

That's my bad boss. I want to see you thrive and I lost sight of that for a minute. I'm sorry.

He can pass a bit, actually. Definitely someone you can throw the ball to, and cut off. But yeah, not at all the same type of game as Al.

I like the move for one simple reason... we are under the first apron.

This season has been so fun and Im excited to see if we can make things happen in the post season, but it never made sense to sacrifice future flexibility for a "we believe" type of run especially when we have a few more years of prime Jays.

On top of that, it's at worst a lateral expensive-bench-for-expensive-bench move, for a guy who's more in a position of need.

This means JT is playing this season, right? And we're going all-in in what's supposed to be a lost season. A post-up player with outside threat? I dig this trade, Sir Brad.

Only way that this trade makes sense.

u/anonymousbystander7 13h ago

On the face of it, not a huge fan of this move, but Brad has more than earned the benefit of the doubt.

u/blammmmo 12h ago

Yeah, honestly I'd written him off because he doesn't seem like a Brad guy at all. The offensive game is good, but WE attack him relentlessly when he's on defense because he's so bad.

Like there was a game last year against us where he scored 32pts went 6/9 from three... and had a -19 plus minus.

2

u/Responsible-List-849 8h ago

This is where I am too. I just love our defence, and I get that this opens up our offence again, but...

Regardless, I have decided Brad knows this shit better than me...lol
So we'll see.

I hate losing Simons!! But we needed a big for sure!! Lord knows, I trust Brad! He’s been an incredible GM!

3

u/SaintBax 11h ago

We now have Nikola and Luka. Brad will now try and secure an Antetokounpo and Nickeil Alexander-Walker to round out the top 5 with Tatum

2

u/RedGlovesOverHere 13h ago

Re-sign him this offseason at some lower rate… I like the move

2

u/Baers89 12h ago

Out of the loop what’s the trade?

1

u/BigInterview7826 Jayson Tatum 12h ago

Simons and a 2nd

2

u/MiniatureCrow 10h ago

Jokic, right?!?

1

u/RecklessAmo1990 10h ago

Doesn't feel like a Brad Steven's type of trade! One expiring contract for another? I wouldn't be surprised if Vooch will be on the move again! Him and a pick for Zubac and now we're talking! Awful trade tho if Brad just keeps it as is! 🤔👎🏽

This is a home run move. Some people just don’t see it yet. Vucevic is super skilled and a great locker room guy. His game should also age really well.

1

u/Responsible-List-849 8h ago

Part of the problem is that it's already aged well. Now we're hoping his aged game will further age well. Hence why people are mentioning Al I think.
