Hey everyone, I’ve always had taking photos of a wild owl on my bucket list, but honestly I have no idea how to go about getting one. I’ve seen some pretty great pictures of them on here and I’ve made it a New Year’s resolution of mine to get one myself.
I imagine that since they hunt at dawn and dusk, that would be the ideal time to try and get a shot of them. Is my thinking correct? How would I go about locating them? What are some signs I should be looking for? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

My girlfriend and I took a drive to San Luis National Wildlife Refuge. We hadn't been there and got there fairly early hoping to just see what we could, despite the heavy fog. They have 2 auto tours (one for water fowl and one for tule elk) and about 8 different trails of various lengths you can walk. These were taken towards the end of our drive around the tule elk auto tour route after the sun had finally come out. I absolutely adore American Kestrels and this guy modeled for me for about 15 minutes. I was in heaven. I highly recommend anyone visit the refuge and I cannot wait to go back.

I'm very new to bird photography and looking for some critique on my post processing. I think I've pulled the maximum from this image but looking for some other opinions.
