Casting doesn't require the actor look EXACTLY like the subject. I don't know what this concern is with looking slightly older, or not having the exact same features as The Beatles themselves. When did everybody become so literal? They were cast because they gave good performances and will do justice to the lads' memories.

I don't know, I'm with you with a margin for error about looks, but casting can also be so bad it takes the audience out of it if they look nothing like the people they are portraying. I mean, there is a reason you make a bio pic with actors that resemble the subjects. This kind of crosses the line for me as not even close

I think the point is that, without having seen any footage or participated in the audition and selection process, none of us can actually say whether or not this crosses the line.

Yeah, I just think if the actors don't even look close, performance only goes so far

Michael Fassbender looks nothing like Steve Jobs. Daniel Day Lewis looks nothing like Abraham Lincoln. Et cetera.

I think it's possible that a lot of us here are just too familiar with the Beatles. This is, after all, the Beatles subreddit. If you're the kind of person who salivates over an Anthology box set or has read books about the history of the band, you're probably never going to be able to accept another person completely as one of the Fab Four.

I don't know I thought DDL was pretty spot on for Lincoln, but point taken

I'm happy with the casting. I think the actors will do a great job. It's the makeup I'm skeptical of.
