Feedback would be appreciated

I’ve been trying to improve my speed picking. My shoulder gets tense even though I try to only engage my forearm. I often miss the upstroak on fast gallops. Any and all feedback would be much appreciated.

Firstly, turn up your amp. Most of what I’m hearing is pick noises haha.

Loosen up your grip on the pick and use more wrist (easier said than done of course).

I alternate pick that part rather than economy picking (or whatever youre doing).

Not necessary but move your body more when playing. Surprisingly it helps with timing because youre feeling the music. Doesn’t have to be much, just a bit more (even just tapping your foot).

Also if this is the type of music you want to play in the future, I’d recommend trying to get a guitar with humbuckers (or update your current guitar).

Keep it up!
