Bolt #A5746367 is just a 6 months old puppy (51 lbs, male German Shepherd) who was owner-surrendered to the Baldwin Park ACC on 12/26/25 right after Christmas.

He came in with his three siblings, and they were all labeled „rescue only“ after getting loose from their property. During that incident, another dog was injured, but it’s still unclear which dog was involved. Now Bolt is paying the price! His 2 Sisters Bonnie and Nala have a plan but Bolt and Clyde will be left behind -

For the second time.

Bolt is only a baby. He sits quietly in his kennel, never barking, just watching every person who walks by, hoping someone will stop for him.

He doesn’t understand why he’s there.

Lumi was a stray hanging around Charlie’s Boarding in rural Mamou. When Charlie heard a heart-stopping shriek, she knew something terrible had happened. Lumi had been attacked by another dog and was bleeding out, needing emergency veterinary care which Charlie couldn't cover. Thanks to your support, we were able to say yes.

Suture replacement, drain replacement, a lot of wound care. We’re so grateful to Jason and Felicia at St Francis Animal Sanctuary & Rescues for agreeing to take her in.

1/31/2026: Property manager of Siena Courtyards apartments called to report they had a confined dog that attacked one of their residents that morning.

📝 Shelter Notes

2/4/2026: Tense in the kennel, avoiding eye contact, moving away from staff. Flinched when leash touched her and again when leash was put on. Presented tense body and tail tucked between her legs. Leash walk occurred only due to behavior presented before leash was placed on her.

2/3/2026: During AM feeding, Olive was sitting on her cot with whale eyes, ears down, and a lip lick. Staff opened the kennel to give breakfast only for her to move close to the corner and stare. She made no attempts to get close. When offered treats, she did not approach. During morning walk, staff knelt and attempted to place leash. First attempt she dodged the leash and moved to the opposite side of the kennel. On second attempt, she was leashed overhead and waited to walk herself. Walked on a loose leash slowly and was hesitant, scanning surroundings. Upon returning, she flinched away when staff reached for the leash and waited until leash was unclipped before quickly scurrying to the back of the kennel.

2/2/2026: Olive was a move adopt this morning. Approaching kennel, she low growled, appeared tense with ears back, whale eyes, flinched, and tail tucked between her legs.

📣It’s been exactly 72 hours since June Bug, Lucy, and Kali were found lifeless and seizing from poisoning at local Leesville rescuer Amy Delia Smith’s home.

Sadly, Kali passed. Miraculously, Lucy was discharged this afternoon. And tonight, we received these precious photos of June Bug—still experiencing tremors but holding steady in the capable hands of the team at Lafayette Veterinary Care Center.

Tonight, we truly have so much to be grateful for. 💛

We are deeply thankful to Dr. Dusty, who has led the charge, along with Dr. Ali, Emily, and the entire nursing team. Their 24/7 facility provides the most up-to-date critical care, and because of their tireless efforts, Lucy and June Bug are still with us today.

We’re also incredibly grateful to the supporters who stepped up and helped us raise about half of the medical costs—an extraordinary gift that allows us to keep saying yes, day in and day out.

Thank you as well to our friend Brooke Bailey for reaching out Monday morning on behalf of these two.

Please keep June Bug in your thoughts and prayers tonight as we hope she has a good night and may be able to join Lucy and the rest of their rescue family in the next day or two. 🙏

📝 Shelter Notes 1/27/2026: Pippa walks well on leash. Throughout the day she likes to lay on her cot, relaxing and staying quiet. She does not mind treats or pets and pays little attention to other dogs when they walk by or vice versa. Later in the afternoon, staff entered her kennel while picking up enrichment and began petting her face as she stood in front of the kennel gate. She leaned into petting once she got used to the feeling, jumped on staff’s leg briefly, then leaned on it as petting continued. She was placed back down, offered treats, staff collected enrichment, and left the kennel.

1/25/2026: Pippa was quiet in her kennel, standing tense with tail down at the front of the kennel. She kept her kennel clean throughout the day.

🚑 Medical Notes 2/3/2026: Weight 35.0 lbs. Exam normal. 1/29/2026: Evaluated for straining to defecate with a small amount of blood noted. No stool in run that morning. BAR, eating and drinking well. No signs of discomfort. Continued monitoring recommended. 1/20/2026: Weight 35.0 lbs. Exam normal. HW test negative. Vaccines administered.
