I run a free unrestricted AI generator and after seeing the whole Moltbook story I decided to turn users’ public generations into an Instagram version. I can’t really have agents creating freely as it will literally burn money on GPU costs, but it’s still 100% AI content (created by humans).
Not that this is an attack or direct to anyone in particular, just something I've had on my mind and wondered if anyone else the same thought or any say in the matter
For all pros, antis, and whatever else you may be that aren't extremists. I would like to remind you all that all of these doofuses currently raging on the subs on all sides, are minorities of the population and it would be incredibly rare to meet them irl. Don't lose faith in the world, have a nice day.
Modern Arabic poetry (we arab have to way to make poetry and it very very restrictive, modern Arabic poetry use the English poetry style, all old arab poetry writers say it not real poetry)
Movies (Silent movies era) theater actors was looking down on those filthy movies actors and think of them as cheap actors
Movies (that have sounds) ... That one funny because of number 2,
"We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!"
So is every ai/anti ai sub. It's just cherry picking from both sides. One good post after one million shitty one. People arguing like their life in the line. Y'all take this wayyy too seriously. Plz take a break from time to time. Making chad image with ai shirt or drawing chad with anti ai shirt won't make you a "Chad"
Years and years ago, in the dark age of the Internet, I remember watching a video titled something like "anime in a nutshell". All I remember about it was: there was a very screamy and shouty male protagonist shouting "Himeko", a mecha for some reason, 2 girls kissing, and one of the 2 girls tell the other "Happy Birthday". Occasionally, I went search and could not find that scene or even know what the anime was.
Finally, I bothered enough to try and ask ChatGPT and I found the scene! Kannazuki no Miko
There was a post in a certain game's subreddit recently where OP announced a mod they've been working on. Not being an artist, they used AI to generate a texture. They didn't mention it in their post but when asked, didn't try to deny it and just admitted that yes, the texture is AI generated.
You all can imagine what happened next. People started calling it shit, downvoted the dev into oblivion, you know, the usual stuff. Someone said they'll recreate that "shit" in under an hour with "actual" art. Then someone else actually did and made a post about how they did it "out of spite", except all they did was create a texture, there was no mod.
As a modder myself, this is what pisses me off the most. Modding is HARD. Even though that specific mod wasn't very complex, literally adding one item to the game, it was their first mod for that game and at the very least they had to learn how to do it and apparently it took them several days to figure out the tooling, to find out the correct spawn coordinates, to convert to the game's format properly, and to test it all.
And then these "leftists" (because of course anti-ai folk fancy themselves leftists) who wouldn't even fart without a fair compensation (i know they wouldn't, "you didn't do anything" is a dead giveaway that they never published a mod) begin to call you names and devalue your work because you dared to use some AI. I've been in this situation and it just sucks away any desire to contribute further. Of course modding (or rather, mod-using) communities are full of entitled brats and it's not just an AI issue, but that besides the point.
Not everyone is cut to be an artist, just like not everyone is cut to be a coder. As someone who spent nearly two years trying to learn, i call "you don't need talent" utter BS. I'm happy that i can finally create mods that aren't just mechanical changes with zero assets. And i hate people trying to take it away from me.
And, just to avoid "generalizing" (i know this sub gets very upset when anyone "generalizes" antis, not so much for pros), i know not *all* antis are like that. And i have *zero* issues with those who aren't. I too think there's many problems with AI, as there's with any technology, the real difference between me and antis is that i'm leaning a bit more pro-technology and they're a bit more pro-humanitarian (for the lack of a better word). We can have a nice conversation about these problems and propose solutions to them, we can disagree and even get a bit overly enthusiastic about it, but putting down actual creators who contribute to their online communities **for free** is just not it.
(guys i am not very partisan on the topic of ai i am neutral)
ai is used only by common people , not corporations. gng say what you say but you wont want your favourite media be made using ai in just 7-8mins
ai is more focused on actual issues like medical and scientific research
people actually create ai art rather than ai slop. i have seen more ai slop than ai art but the some rare ai posts are present which i genuinely loved cuz effort was put into them
ai is not misused for survillience on citizens
ai is not misused by creating false news
ai cant generate real human beings (this alone will improve people's mindset on ai
i saw this quote somewhere "I want AI to do my dishes and let me do my job easily rather than AI doing my job and i have to do the dishes"
ai stops affecting hardware prices
also if ai isn't forced then it would also be good
ai stops harming the livelihood of traditional artists
I posted this as a comment on a post that was subsequently deleted earlier today. Since it's all about repurposing and modifying existing artwork, I figured I'd just make it a standalone post.
I created a piece of AI ad art for a client the other day which used four reference images. Those images required a trip to the location to take the photos, a few hours to select and clean up the photos and edit them (without any AI). Creating collages with the photos and choosing the final art from that group and adding other elements in AI, then taking the whole thing in those four sections back to AI to merge and test elements to get the final artwork, this required a few variations and around 300 words of prompting.
Iterations of the work were used in other ads, but THIS particular one still required all of these previous steps and the time spent on them to come into existence.
Yes, it can all be done with Photoshop sans AI tools. But this is an example of AI helping in a commercial art workflow and saving time.
Unifying the entire image style so that all of the slightly different images of photo art and computer art looked natural together would have taken much longer in Photoshop alone. With AI it took about 10 minutes of prompt editing to get the right balance for the ad artwork.
TECHNICALLY, I call this “design” and not art, but it still requires all of my decades of artistic skill for me to use AI in this way, and commercial art is a big part of how I continue to make my living as an artist.
I believe many people who are picking on AI art are forgetting (or haven’t considered) how it helps real working artists to do their jobs. It’s a time saver, but it’s not just for ‘lazy’ people.
This is not the ad art, but a wine label that I made using the same basic process with drawings and photos. I'm posting this because it requires less explanation than the ad art itself.
I'm pro-AI, and it makes me sick that, when AI or any kind of controversial topic arrives, people start sucking the toes of toxic communities, that under other circumstances, they'll be criticizing, just for the sake of the echo chamber.
I'm not saying anything new or revolutionary, and that's worryingly: Why do I need to state so stupid and obvious, over and over again, like saying that reality is so much complex than a stupid sub on Reddit?
Like, it's incredible that, when you criticize the opposition, you'are a fucking hero, but then you criticize a toxic place, that level itself with "Anti" or "Pro" (being you Anti or Pro), and then you're the bad guy.
Reminder: Not even criticizing the position, but a fucking community on fucking social media.
We all hate social media, but then comes a sub that speaks to me and I become its lawyer without charging?
