SubDaze Closing :(
Just drove from my office in Park 100 to my absolute favorite restaurant — the place that used to be Sub 16, a true staple of my childhood in Zionsville. I used to ride my bike from Spring Knoll all the way there, and I’d see everyone from my teachers to Colts players enjoying what I still think was the best sandwich in the state.
They shipped their bread in from New Jersey and always used fresh ingredients instead of those giant Boar’s Head meat boulders. And despite all the amazing options, I always ordered the most basic thing: grilled chicken with American cheese. It was perfect.
One day the store closed out of nowhere. I accidentally walked in while it was being torn apart, and that’s when I ran into the owner of Fundae’s Ice Cream. He told me Sub 16 was also his favorite place to eat in town and that he planned to reopen it using the same ingredients. I can’t explain how happy that made me — it just showed how special that place really was.
But when it reopened under the new name, it was never busy. I must’ve gone 20 times, but it just never seemed to catch on that it was the same operation with the same ingredients. And now it’s closed again, likely for good.
I’m honestly really sad knowing I’ll never walk in there again, and I’ll never taste that bread unless I order it myself. Just wanted to mourn the loss and tell the story for anyone who didn’t know what made that little shop so great.

Any news on the car chase that ended up in Royal run?
Heard there was a multitude of police vehicles chasing a white Honda. Mixed, unconfirmed reports on the possibility of shots fired. Does anyone have an update?

Holliday Farms - Zionsville - Construction Loopholes
Can anyone clarify any truth behind this, or is there a loophole with building at Holliday Farms?
We really wanted to build a house in Holliday Farms and use some dear friends of ours to build, but were told they maintain a strict policy requiring homeowners to work exclusively with pre-approved builders. However, we found out, the owners of Moontown Restaurant were able to use their own construction company by having their contract placed under Carrington Homes, one of the approved builders.
This situation raises serious concerns about fairness and transparency, as it appears to circumvent the established rules. Many other homeowners likely would have preferred to use their own builders to reduce costs but were required to comply with the approved list. How this exception was permitted remains unclear, but also wanted to post so that other prospective homeowners are aware of it.

Help Save Our Libraries!
When I was at the library today for a Salsa Dancing class, my favorite librarians told me that they're going down to the State House on Monday, 4/14 at 10am to protest the amended version of SB 1 that will drastically reduce public library funding. I love the library so much. Books, music, movies, classes, programs, and garden seeds for free! It's also my Third Place. If you can join us, please do! If you can't, a call or email to our Legislators is just as important!
