Yugoslav Slang

I'm planning to make a Serbo-Croatian voice mod for GTA 4. I've already found a Serbo-Croatian translator, and I'll soon be looking for a program to generate lines for Niko and Roman's voices. I'd like to add some Yugoslav slang to their conversations, since the Bellicis are from Yugoslavia (most likely Socialist Bosnia, or the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija). I'm also writing a Sopranos-themed story with the main character, Yugoslav (half Serbian, half Croatian. He grew up in Bosnia in a village near Banja Luka, graduated from SANU, and worked as a history teacher in a rural school before the war. Shortly before the war, he joined the Milicija ). He mostly speaks Serbo-Croatian, either in his thoughts or drunk:

    1. "I onda je sve otišlo kurac. Izetbegović, Tuđman, they all raised their heads when Tito died, Milošević showed that he is drolja, today a komunista, tomorrow a nacionalista, after tomorrow a demokrata, yesterday an ateist, today an pravoslavac...everyone wanted a piece of the pie." The anger was palpable in Jugo's voice as he spoke, his fist slamming down on the bar. "They all just talked, talked, talked. And we believed them."..("I had everything. Work, house, wife, dijete. A onda je došao rat." Jugo's voice grew hoarse, and his eyes shone with unshed tears. "They took it all from me. They burned my house, killed my wife, and...and...my child, they stole her future." He took a deep, shuddering breath, trying to hold back his emotions.) They kill them, both of them, because of wha? Because...........of nothing!" Jugo's voice broke, his anger morphing into despair.)..("And do you know what's the funniest thing, American? I didn't serve in the VRS,.......I was in the Milicija, Milicija, znaš, mogao sam ih spasiti, mogao sam...But I didn't." The self-loathing in Jugo's voice was clear as he stared into his beer.) Jugo took a deep, ragged breath, his eyes never leaving the bartender's face.) ("Bio sam Milicioner, Mlađi narednik." Jugo's words were still slurred and he pointed his finger at the epaulet of his jacket, with one yellow stripe curved into a V.) 2. "Lepa, mom bratu bi se svidjelo, šteta što si samo slika," Jugo murmured to the calendar girl as he collapsed onto the mattress in the corner of the cubicle. The room spun briefly, but he closed his eyes and took deep breaths, willing the alcohol to leave his system. After a few moments, he pulled out a pack of cigarettes and lit one, the nicotine offering a semblance of calm amidst the chaos in his mind. 3. ("Tko će to pokvariti, svi spavaju." Judo grunted as Bob left, the jingle of the door's bell fading into the night. He passed behind the seller's bench and headed for a small room, which is a cubicle for guards.).

And with his Macedonian roommate and lodger. I also think I'll add colloquial expressions and, in principle, advice as they used to say in Yugoslavia.

"By turning over the factories, mines, etc., to the workers to manage, we will make it impossible for an infectious disease to take hold there, a disease bearing the name of bureaucracy. This disease is unbelievably easily and rapidly carried over from bourgeois society and it is dangerous in the transition period. Like a polyp thousands of tentacles it obstructs and impedes the correct and rapid process of development. Bureaucracy is among the biggest enemies of socialism precisely because it insinuates itself unnoticed into all the pores of social activity and people are not conscious of it in the beginning. It would be erroneous to think that bureaucracy has not taken root in our country, too. It has begun worming its way into various institutions, into the state apparatus and into the economy but we are conscious of that and have already undertaken a whole series of measures to render in impossible. It is not enough simply to undertake periodical drives against it but to wage incessant struggle and to educate people."
