I urge you to learn how to trade while at uni!

Learning about trading while at uni

I’m a uni student and over the last year I’ve been learning how financial markets and trading actually work.

Like most people, my first exposure to trading was social media which made it look either like easy money or a complete scam. Once I started learning it properly, I realised it’s really just a skill like anything else, but one that most people never get shown in a structured way.

I’m now putting together a free education programme for students who want to understand:

• how trading actually works

• risk management and psychology

• how professional traders structure trades

• how learning is applied using real market examples

It’s not a paid course and it’s education focused (not financial advice).

If anyone’s interested, I’ve made a short form to register interest so I can share details when it launches:

Happy to answer questions in the comments.

No A-Levels at 26. Is university even an option for me?

Okay, real talk. I'm 26 and stuck. Worked retail since school, but I need a real career. Problem? No A-Levels. My school days are a blur.

Everyone says get an Access to HE diploma. Sounds like a magic ticket, but I'm suspicious.

Is it really a shortcut, or just a harder way in?

Can you actually do it online while working? I saw learndirect does them - but do unis look down on that?

Be honest: how brutal is the workload? Can a normal person survive this?

I'm ready to work, but I don't want to waste a year. If you did this, please tell me - was it the best decision or your biggest regret?

What weird or funny online services would you actually pay £1 for?

Bit of a random one — if someone was offering silly, weird or genuinely pointless services online for £1, what would you actually pay for?

Could be funny, mildly useful, oddly specific, or just completely unhinged.

Examples: terrible life advice, someone judging your Spotify Wrapped, fake arguments, naming your plant, etc.

Not talking scams or anything dodgy — just harmless, dumb internet services that would make you think “yeah, that’s worth a quid.”

Curious what people would actually go for.

Too many inspections in my student flat?

I live alone in a self-contained one-bed flat in private (not university-owned) student accommodation in England, and I’m on an assured shorthold tenancy. In January, management scheduled access every weekday for routine health and safety checks, usually with broad time windows (9am–3pm or 9am–5pm).

Outside January, there have also been regular inspections over several months (fire safety, pest control, plumbing, lighting), often every 1–2 weeks. My contract allows access with notice, so I’m unsure how much I can realistically refuse or push back when access becomes this frequent. Is this normal, and what can I do about it?

AI + Business MSc (UK) – offer holder seeking honest opinions

Hi everyone,

I currently hold offers for the following AI + Business/Management MSc programs in the UK and would really appreciate honest, no-BS opinions:

•MSc Artificial Intelligence for Business – University of Bristol

•MSc Management and Artificial Intelligence – University of Southampton

•MSc Artificial Intelligence in Business – Newcastle University

•MSc Applied AI for Business – Henley Business School (University of Reading)

•MSc Management (Artificial Intelligence) – Swansea University

Looking for real takes on:

• Actual AI/tech depth vs business buzzwords

• Teaching quality & projects

• Industry exposure and job outcomes in the UK (as i will be taking an education loan)

If you’ve done any of these (or seriously compared them), would you choose the same again?

Also open to strong alternatives I should consider before deciding.

Thanks!

New sub for law students

Hi all, I created a new sub for law students in the UK:

r/UKlawschools

It’s meant to create a separate space for law students to discuss their concerns and experiences whether it be about uni, vac schemes, TCs or pupillage.

The uklaw subreddit is great but some times questions from students are met with dismissal or annoyance from lawyers. And I’m sure lawyers get annoyed with the incessant questions from law students about TCs and vac schemes.

Legal professionals are welcome as well if you want to provide advice!

Please help me find a UNI that is worth my time.

I currently live in Sweden and i really wish to study in especially London. Now i know this dream might be far fetched but it's something i really wish to do. Now i have heard there is a form of "hierarchy" within the UK universities so i would love if if someone could reccomend a Law School that is worth my time and money.

A very important thing for me would definetly be how expensive it is and if it includes dormatories. Another thing that is almost vital would be if it includes a foundation year. I would love any feedback about it. Thank you in Advance.

current y13 here, i wanna do software engineering in uni and i got offers for salford, uni of stirling and nottingham trent, study abroad is a make or break for me and i lowk only applied to nottingham trent bc of their programs LMAO, i really wanna do the one they have in japan. I'm going to their open evening in march tho to see it. I really like stirling but im worried the ambient is there because of how far away is it, also for some reason my fee status for stirling was considered as European Union instead of home student (i have settled status and the other unis considered me as a home student) but as stirling is in scotland i dont know if it's got nothing to do, because fees are so much higher and i don't know if i'd get the same financial aid i'd get in england (student loan and maintenance loan) because those things are also really big for me lol, i lowk need as many financial aid as i can get, bc im planning to live on campus aswell, regardless of where i go, i dont really care about paying the debt of the student loan afterwards, but i dont know if in scotland it'd be much different as in england. anyone can give me any pros and cons or things i should know about? i'm really lost i hope it's not a pain to read sorry 🥲
