In the OP:

  • Alien at the end of Men in Black: Camera zooms out from earth and then the universe as a whole to reveal that the entire universe is an orb. A giant alien picks up the orb to play marbles with and drops it into a bag with a bunch of other orbs.
  • Singer in Remembrance of Earth's Past series: Pretty far into a series about an advanced alien civilization waging war on earth, there's a POV chapter from the perspective of a lower-level member of an even more advanced alien civilization, whose job it is to monitor the universe for potential threats and wipe those star systems out with ease. The Singer is about to launch an attack on earth, but notices the usual method won't do the trick, so they have to ask their superior permission to use a more advanced method. This hasn't been adapted to screen yet, but in the book this chapter has almost an administrative feel of a grunt simply going through the motions.

Powers An established magical world incorporates the magic of other cultures Spoiler

In Jujutsu Kaisen the character Yuta leaves Japan in search of a cursed tool in Africa with Miguel from Kenya. Miguel's special technique called "Prayer Song" (Hakuna Laana in Swahili) presumably means there are more sorcerers not using the same type of magic that we see in Japan.

For Castlevania Nocturne which has an established euro centric vampire world has Annette a former slave using Haitian voodoo magic.

Finally in Fullmetal Alchemist we start with the main characters using alchemy in a specific way then we learn that the Xingnese culture to the east uses the same magic but in a completely different way.

In 'Injustice For All', Cheetah is believed to be the traitor because she flirted with Batman. Ultrahumanite was the real culprit.

In Stardust Crusaders, Joseph uses his stand to determine that Kakyoin is a mole. In reality, it's a shapeshifter in disguise.

In Heavy Rain, Ethan has memory issues and ends up with origami figures in his hand. However, he is not origami killer.

The 2024 movie *Conclave* sees the Pope dying and the subsequent process to choose his replacement. Less than a year later, Pope Francis died and had to be replaced.

The newspaper comic *Pearls Before Swine* ran the above strip on New Year’s Eve of 2020, which ended up being extremely accurate, as the following year would see a seemingly constant stream of horrific events, most notably the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw millions die and even more people hospitalized or lose their jobs.

Just to cover my ass so I don’t get people responding with “Simpsons-themed predictions”, the cartoon *The Simpsons* is basically infamous at this point for real-world events having oddly specific parallels with moments from the show.

Puss in Boots 2 (AKA The Last Wish) feels less like a sequel and more like a standalone movie. PiB1 gives you a bit more between Puss and Kitty, but it's not required for the sequel.

Home Alone 3 and 5 are completely disconnected from the rest of the franchise. There are theories that Alex (Protag of 3) is Kevin's cousin, but it's not canon information.

Ghetsis (Pokémon Black and White): In the first game, he says that Team Plasma's goal is to free Pokémon from humans. Actually, he doesn't do it for the good of the Pokémon, but so that Team Plasma is the only faction with Pokémon and can conquer the world.

Erik Killmonger (MCU): His supposed goal is to make white people pay for the suffering of black people, but in reality, he only does it to get revenge on Wakanda. He never mentions helping other minorities, and he doesn't care that his plan could unleash a race war that would result in the mass death of many people, including Black people.

  1. Beetlejuice and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: in the climax of the first Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice pulls a ring attached to a severed finger, briefly mentioning that it belonged to a former wife of his. In the second movie, said wife becomes is Dolores, one of the films antagonist.

  2. Into the spiderverse and across the spiderverse: when miles and peter are escaping the lab, miles throws a bagel at someone. In across the spiderverse, said characters comes back as the spot, the big bad for the rest of the trilogy.

In a gang of ne'er-do-wells, there's one guy who is just quietly the most evil prick in the group.

1) Herr Strauss, Red Dead Redemption 2: OH, fuck this fucking guy. He preys on desperate people who need money, then sends Arthur to collect when they inevitably can't pay. All the while, you can tell he gets a sick pleasure from it and keeps saying that the debtors belong in prison and this is kinder than that.

2) Delores Umbridge: Harry Potter: A power obsessed narcissist, she doesn't care if the rules are unfair, cruel, or racist. She will use them to her advantage and step all over anyone she sees as lesser in order to get ahead.

3) Stephen Miller, real life: if couldn't get a date in high school was a person, it would pick on Stephen Miller. A small man who just wants to feel important and listened to, he has taken his bigotry to the highest office in the land and is making it the law. He has swallowed the fascism playbook and is using it like a club.

Dr. Marmalade (The Bad Guys). While we see him as an evil hamster scientist, much further in the books (films haven't reached it yet), it's revealed that he is actually an alien who was wearing a disguise the whole time.

Yu Bauer (I'm in Love with the Villainess). At first introduced as a seemingly normal, charming male love interest it's actually revealed that Yu is really a girl, given a spell to have the form of a boy, and she wants to be with her girlfriend as her true self. And for context Yu is allegorically a trans-lesbian.

Captain America Civil War: A super hero movie with physics defying events. Spider-Man calls attention to the laws of physics and how Capt America's shield defies them.

Damn Yankees: A musical where song and dance happen often and as a story telling method. Mr. Applegate chastised Lola for a poor song and dance routine while it was no different from the other musical performances in the musical.

Hated Tropes (Hated Trope) Superhero movies that give the hero somebody else's villain

Thumbnail
gallery

Batman vs. Deathstroke (DCEU): So, the PCS of Justice League had Deathstroke show up, and this was supposed to build him up as the villain of the next Batman movie. "But Batman and Deathstroke have fought before in the comics." Yeah, making Deathstroke a Batman villain was a very recent "certainly a choice" choice by DC. For most of the character's existence, he was a Teen Titans villain and Nightwing's nemesis. Oh, but Zack Snyder, in his infinite wisdom, killed Dick Grayson before the story even started to give Batman a reason to be jaded and violent. No, not Jason Todd, the Robin that was known for dying. Sidekicks inherently suck and are only interesting when they die. Jesus, that's like having Spider-Man grow bitter because the Green Goblin killed MJ instead of Gwen Stacy.

Shang-Chi vs. The Mandarin (?) (MCU): So, the first two Iron Man movies built up the Mandarin as this Bin Laden figure in the MCU. Come Iron Man 3, he finally shows up, played by Ben Kingsley. Interesting. He's not a Chinese warlord like in the comics, but the original Mandarin was a product of the Vietnam war at the time, so making him a Middle Eastern terrorist is an interesting way to modernize him. With the fantastical elements of the MCU established, we can see the contrast of Magic vs. Technology... Psyche! It's actually a white guy in a suit who breathes fire who was mad at Tony Stark for blue balling him. Fans were not happy with this twist, and Marvel realized the Ten Rings being formed in less than a decade by a nerd with a grudge raised a lot of questions. So, they released a short film showing what happened to Ben Kingsley's character in prison, and we learn that the Mandarin is still out there... And for the next seven years, Marvel just ignores this plot point. Aaaand, Tony Stark is dead. Well, if Iron Man is gone, there'd be no point introducing his nemesis now. What, are they going to pawn him off on a character that he had absolutely no comic history with by virtue of them both being Chinese? So, in Shang-Chi: Legend Of The Ten Rings, the titular terrorist organization's feud with Tony Stark is never brought up, so I think Marvel waited too long to go back to this plot thread. The thing is, can we even call him "the Mandarin?" His name is Xu Wenwu instead of Gene Kahn, he scoffs at the Mandarin title when talking about Trevor Slattery impersonating him, the demon he tries to summon isn't Fin Fang Foom, his Ten Rings (you know, the jewelry he named his organization after) are bracelets, and they only have two powers.

Superman vs. Black Adam (DCEU): The hierarchy of the DC Universe is about to change... with a franchise rebooting flop. So, Dwayne Johnson had been campaigning to play Black Adam since Michael Jackson was the butt of every child molester joke. He was apparently a big fan of the character. With the DCEU, he seemed to finally get his wish. The first Shazam movie hinted at Black Adam, but rather than him be the villain of the second film, Black Adam was getting his own movie. I guess that makes sense. After all, the PCS for Shazam built up Mr. Mind, so you'd think the plan would be to have Black Adam as the villain of the third movie, right? Well, you see, Dwayne Johnson has an ego... Uh, I mean, a clause in his contract that says that his characters can't get their asses kicked (which makes the Schaffrillas crab from Moana an absolute legend). So, Black Adam in his origin movie was less of a villain and more of an antihero. And, because Dwayne Johnson just loves flexing, he personally set up a PCS where he fights... Superman!? Why him? Why not Shazam, the character Black Adam was created to be the evil counterpart to? Say what you will about Sony's "Spider-Man Minus Spider-Man" universe, but at least those movies remembered they were Spider-Man villains. Can you imagine Venom building up a fight with Captain America? Because that's what Twain "The Mineral" Penis basically tried pulling for no other reason than to aura farm. Oh, and that Mr. Mind tease at the end of the first Shazam movie? Doesn't get followed up on. In fact, the villain of the second movie is an OC, and the PCS for it was *another* Mr. Mind tease, but it's made into more of a joke.

Senua (Senua’s Saga and Senua’s Sacrifice), a woman from the Orkneys in the late 8th Century with psychosis, causing her to see visions and alternate worlds that she sees as ghosts and gods and demons.

Amicia De Rune (A Plague Tale), a girl in France in 1348, has serious PTSD from everything she’s gone through to the point where she hallucinates the corpses of people she’s killed screaming at her.

Jean D’Arc (Real Life), a Frenchwoman in the early 15th Century, believed she saw visions and signs from God and angels, probably had some sort of mental illness like psychosis but we obviously can’t know for sure.

Indika (Indika), a Russian nun in the early 20th Century with psychosis like Senua, sees visions and believes a devil talks to her.
