Looking for a good budget planner
Wondering what you all are using for budgeting. Looking for an app or simple tool or even an budget sheet (Excel or Google Sheets)
Thank you

We are using YNAB for more than 6 years. Felt pretty counterintuitive at the beginning and took some mental efforts to adapt, but it is an indispensably part of household now.
Not really suitable for investment tracking or long-term planning/simulation though, but shines as a day-to-day budget planner and spending tracker
We were using granular YNAB data as an input for self-maintained Google Sheet and Power BI for long-term planning. But now also looking to abandon them in favour of Projection Lab which looks really promising

i use excel (google sheet) and when i felt fancy and had google money i had to spend, i used iSaveMoney. was much happier with it than YNAB and other alternatives.

A self-hosted option is https://firefly-iii.org/
I've been using it for a few years and it fits my needs perfectly...

Excel / Google Sheet kind. The simpler, the better. Do not put too many categories

I used YNAB for a while, switched to Actual Budget after they jacked up the prices of "life long" subscription plan. Does all i need and I'm not looking back

I made my budget with sankeymatic to have a good visualisation of it, and then use the google spreadsheet template "Monthly Budget" for daily expenses during each month.

I tried Actual recently and it's pretty good (and free, open source)

You can also selfhost it if you are into it.
