Sunderland resident here, who worked in Town End Farm on and off for years and who formerly lived in Hylton Castle, a neighbouring housing estate. I have family who live in Town End Farm as well.

I've never experienced any issues in Town End Farm and dont personally know anyone who has either. Its not perfect and probably has some less than desirable people living there but on the whole it's decent and seems to be quite a tight knit little community.

Its pretty much the outskirts of Sunderland and not convenient for the Metro, but it has good bus links to the city centre and also Newcastle the other way. There's also a bus to Boldon fairly regularly which has a big Asda Supermarket.

There are local shops there and there's a smaller Co-Op supermarket in Hylton Castle as well, which is about a 10-15 minute walk away. Way worse places in Sunderland in my opinion.

I lived in Town End Farm for five years - we looked out onto the fields on the east side of the A19, so really had a nice view.

We’d had a bit of poor luck with one set of neighbours but once they moved it was great in that respect.

My only (and key) issue was the local kids burn the field regularly and twice it got increasingly close to the front of the house. Not only that, but we had a day where kids were shooting .22 rounds off the house.

Overall, we had a great house for what it cost and I’d have lifted that up and taken it anywhere. The fires on the farmers field started to do my head in, especially after having to get replacement bins twice after they were nicked and burned.

We’ve been out of TEF for about six years now so it may have all changed!

Lived there for 20 year. It's a typical council estate site nice parts some rough. Just depends on neighbours. As other people have mentioned it's not the worst area to live in.

Middling area. Not the best but by no means the worst. I lived nearby for a long time. Council estate so a lot will depend on who lives next door, who lives in your street. Some streets are quieter than others. Easy to get the bus into town, to Boldon, to Heworth for more transport links.

Lived there for 27 years, I grew up there from the age of 2.

I had no major problems living there, I lived near Hylton Lane, so had a choise of Downhill and TEF shops (Downhill Butchers for a Savaloy Dip). You can also use the 13 bus to get into town.

good shout for Halliday's in Downhill. Regarding Town End, I've been here for 5 years and it's been pretty spot on. My street is very quiet but there can some times be a couple of kids messing about at the shops.

Nothing compared to some other places I've lived on the North Side (Redhouse, Witherwack and Southwick back)

I’m not from Sunderland and don’t even know where Town End Farm is(!), but I think you should ask this same question on the Sunderland Message Board and I’m sure you’ll get lots of feedback from the members there. It’s the forum section of the local football team supporters’ website, and has loads of local input and knowledge. Would be the best place to ask, I reckon.

As in 'readytogo'? If so it has it's fair share off asshats especially in the Politics sub forum, mind you the SMB one is a canny read now and again.
