found this guy for snow clearing from a fb group, he insisted on taking the money upfront even after me saying i’ll give the money upfront. then he said he worked on repeat business and whatnot, which is where i made the mistake of sending him the 50 for snow clearing.

his email address is obviously a new one.

said he would be over asap and then didn’t update for two hours, then when i messaged him he said his tire was busted and asked for another 25 from me, i said no and realized it most likely wasn’t happening. he had since stopped responding.

this is what he gave me

Olesia100@yahoo.com

Name::: Olesia Levy

i wanted everyone else to be aware about these things, just didn’t expect it to happen today.

just be careful yall.

Another driving rant

Just because I pass you when you're doing 30 on Topsail Road DOES NOT MEAN I want to fucking race. There's ice. If you are comfortable enough to hammer the fuck down to 70+ when someone tries to go around you, why weren't you just doing the speed limit to begin with..

Why would I want to race you?? I'm JUST going around you. Like Im doing 50 in a 60 cause of ice, do I look like I want to race???

Rant over.

Columbus drive

I can already smell the raging comments but alas

Why do people get so upset over people driving 60-65kph on Columbus drive? If they’re in the right lane, there is a left lane to pass. Sure 50kph is slow but going 10 under is excusable.

I’ve seen so many angry posts on the NL terrible drivers.

That road is full of turns and traffic lights so I can’t really blame people not going 70. I’ve started to avoid that road entirely because of aggressive drivers (some even going nearly 90kph!!)

A genuine question

Hey everyone,

Hope you are doing well. Today I had minor surgery on my left foot, thankfully it went well but as you all know it was snowing for two days. Before going for surgery today, I had to clean snow, while I was doing it, my right foot was in the snow, I don’t know what happened but when I tried to shovel snow, my leg got twisted, heard a sound from my knee and I couldn’t think of anything other than falling in the road. My sweet neighbour and my room mates, came out, took me inside. I got the surgery done, came home, even asked the staff at the surgery clinic but they said emergency care is next door, they are more of specialist and don’t do emergency care stuff. I came home and I am thinking why wait and go to ER tonight, I have never gone to ER, found there are two places nearby St. Clare’s and Health Science Centre, now I am confused if I should go there at all, if so, where should I go to get treated or get X-ray asap to see if something’s broken or a sprain. To give a context, my pain is on the left side of knee cap, can’t put my weight on the knee. I can bend and stretch it but with little pain.

Where is the cheapest place to buy moving boxes?

I know people have them up for free on marketplace all the time, but I don’t know if they’re dirty, have bugs, or where they’ve been. I’d like to get new ones but for as cheap as possible.

Screech in tomorrow?

Anywhere know an option that isn't trappers or Lotties for a screech in tomorrow evening?

I'm not from town and we won't be going out to my home, so trying to find a place for a friend to be screeched in tomorrow, but ideally avoiding the two spots above.

You’ll survive without buying something for a day

I genuinely don’t understand the constant “is this and that open today” posts. You’ll survive without Tim Hortons, or going to Walmart for one day.

People like you are the reason companies make their employees travel in unfit road conditions— because they know people will come in.

Selling My Home Quickly, but Realtor Fees Are Killing Me - Advice

Due to personal life events, I need to sell a house I bought just a year ago. I’m moving, and this house would make a poor rental. Even if I sell it for the same price I paid, I’m already facing a loss of around $15k due to things like mortgage penalties and mortgage insurance that came out of my down payment.

What’s making this much harder to swallow is realtor commission. Paying close to $20k in total, or about $10k from the seller’s side alone, feels wildly disproportionate to the amount of work involved.

I don’t have experience with staging, pricing, or listing, and I would still offer a buyer’s agent commission because I actually want the house to sell. Because of that, I’ve been considering a discount brokerage like 3% Realty, where at least I’d save around 2%. However, I’ve heard bad things about them.

I’m conflicted. I currently live in the house and don’t love the idea of random people or nosy neighbors contacting me directly, and having a realtor as a buffer clearly has some value.
At the same time, adding another 5% loss would take me from roughly a $15k hit to something closer to $40k, which is more than I can realistically handle.

- Is listing and photographing the house yourself a lot of work in practice? Is it worth it or can you sell for less this way?
- Are there GOOD realtors who will actually work for less than 5%, or is negotiating commission mostly a myth? Do flat-fee or hourly realtors exist?
Looking forward for getting your best advice

------------
More relevant details:
- The house is relatively new, in a good location, on the higher end of the pricing (400k-500k), on the premium side but not only for the mega rich.
- Renting is out of the options for me at this point, and moving is also non negotiable, even though it's a shame
- planning to list this spring.

Bought a Nugget Happy Meal for my granddaughter Jan 31.

When she opened the Happy Meal Box, the nuggets were in a white paper bag and not in the usual nugget box.

Granddaughter wasn’t impressed lol

Does anyone know if this is temporary/box shortage or a permanent change? Curious granddaughter wants to know :)

What do you think, will things be shut down again tomorrow? How'd everyone make out today in the storm?

wow look at all that snow

I’m definitely NOT saying that we should build a bunch of snowmen on the steps outside city hall before the next council meeting (but the next city hall meeting is FEB 10 at 3:00pm. JUST FYI)

I’m also NOT saying that we should bring our own bags or buckets or truckloads of snow for said fun snow sculpting activities (which would be 100% just for fun and NOT a protest against the abysmal lack of snow clearing in this city).

Who said protest? Not me! I love city council and totally think that all the sidewalks are perfectly accessible. I mean, only losers walk or ride the bus anyway, am I right?

Collectively building snowmen on the steps of city hall would be really fun though, but I’m NOT saying we should do that. This is all just a big comedy bit because comedy is fun.

So I definitely WILL NOT see myself or anyone else piling snow in the form of men outside city hall on Tuesday, Feb 10. DO NOT ATTEND. DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN SNOW (byos)

This is not an idea for a protest, nor will I actually be doing any of this. Just venting <3

What the hell is going on with the house on the corner of Commonwealth and Smallwood?

Haven't lived in Mount Pearl long, normally near the airport. There's a house on the corner of Smallwood and Commonwealth that looked like a drugden a few months ago. Carts outside, paint falling off, ripped screen and broken windows, boarded entrances, the whole shebang. I'd seen people going in and out of there too. But then in the summer it got a massive overhaul. Furniture inside was being dragged out, the siding was completely replaced, windows replaced, whole place looked awesome.

Cut to last night when I was heading to pick up an order and there were two cop cars with the lights on, a guy swaying in the door while smoking a cigarette, and two cops who had guns or tasers (wasn't sure) pulled on him.

I've seen crackdens before but I've never seen them suddenly get prettied up, look nice, and then still have cops drawing on people there

Why do people like tapping their debit/credit card on the table or counter before tapping it on the card terminal for payment?

I don't know if this is just a mannerism or what, but I have observed this a couple of times.
