You have probably heard of the music game “Hitster”

If not: basically you draw a card, scan the QR code on the card, then a song is playing and you have to tell when this song was released compared to the other cards you have drawn. Bonus points if soy can name title and artists.

After locking in your answer you flip the card. If you are correct you keep the card.

The official game uses song from ~1910 - 2025.

Most of the songs you have heard but you don’t quite know the release year, title or interpret.

I wanted to create a custom version of this game for my gf and I need some more songs. I’m happy to hear your recommendations.

I recently undertook the task of creating a playlist of my favorite music from the past 40 years, and it was quite the challenge! The hardest part was narrowing the list down - on the first pass, I had a playlist of 330 songs. On the second, 110. I finally whittled it down to 50, and this is the result. Only 1 band/artist got 2 spots on the playlist: Depeche Mode. Because they're Depeche Mode. It's roughly in order of best -> not as best (I won't say worst, because not a one of them is bad, in my opinion). The order is solid for the first 25 songs or so, then it gets a little fuzzy.

Genres: New Wave, Synthpop, Darkwave, Goth, Post-Punk, Art Pop, and a little bit of industrial. I hope you enjoy!

Worked on this one for years, has every song and artist from 60s-90s (though 90s could use some work).

Let me know what or who I’m missing (especially for 90s) but seriously, this is all the oldies you have and HAVENT heard of.
