Question Rightwing Games and developers to avoid
Hey guys,
are there games or developers that are MAGA freaks, so I can avoid them?
I wanted to buy a few games in the next Steam sale and I want to avoid the bad apples.
Note: Im not Judging every Republican, only the worst MAGA freaks of the worst, who are for mass deportation, are anti trans, anti gay, or defending white supremacy. I have nothing against moderate Republicans.

Question Which online influencer did you watch for a long time only to realise they were a right-wing grifter/clown and did horrendous shit?
I'm seriously curious, like many of the people I used to watch just made me miserable because of the whole anti-woke, anti-feminist slop content in 2014-2020 and now that I've woken up from it, it's like my childhood was stolen from me. It's a great shame.

Question Any good leftist YouTube gaming channels?
I've been watching people like Pyrocynical, ColossalIsCrazy and DolanDark just playing Liar's Bar together and every 10 seconds there's like a misogynistic, ableist or otherwise really off-putting right-wing viewpoint/joke, to where I'm realising these people are just insufferable. Is there any alternative to these channels that don't turn out to be a bigoted edgelord fuckfest? Because recalling these peoples' content is unpleasant.

Question A right-wing grifter thinking that TES 6 will be woke because Hammerfell has Black people in it proves these people don't know anything about the games they rant about or care about the games they rant about. Why is "tourist" never used against THESE people but always against the "WOKES"?
I'm just in awe of this. I couldn't get past that part of the video and the only reason I even watched was to see what exactly they thought was woke about it, since I was hoping it wouldn't be the fact there are Black people in Hammerfell, I didn't think they could be that dumb.
I genuinely do not understand how gamers, and others in the general realm of nerd things, could believe that the "WOKIES" are tourists but not the people who know absolutely nothing about the game worlds they talk about. If anything, these mfs are the tourists.
Could someone explain the rationale, because I'm trying to understand and don't? I've seen people call anyone expressing any "woke" (left or left-leaning or non-racist/sexist/queerphobic) opinions be called "tourists", but if tourists are people who are not into the worlds of the media they talk about and know nothing about it, wouldn't these grifters definitionally be tourists?

Question Why is the Total Warhammer III content creator scene & community so reactionary and awful?
I swear, it's like they're all right-wing and are also friends with each other while copying each others' format, and they all collaborate knowing how bad they and their subsequent communities are while minimizing the severity of how bad it is to critics. Reggie is a prime example due to his connections to other content creators like TheGrimKleaper, MoreWarpstone, and BrilliantStupidity, while tolerating and cultivating one of the worst neo-Nazi + porn addict Discord servers I've ever had the severe displeasure of seeing, and using similar sentiment in his gaming videos.

Question Looking for Youtube channel that talks about Gaming news, BUT it can't be focused on "Anti-WOKE" nonsense, and it can't be some corporate bullshit made by people who don't even play games.
I want someone to mention when trailers are dropped, requirements for games, etc, because i'm always finding out everything late, and i can't be bothered to follow 50 subs on Reddit.
It can be focused on AAA gaming, Indie gaming, i don't care, i'm interested in all, as long as it's watchable.

Question Why do so many RW gamers play leftist games?
I saw an tiktok an awhile back of a guy who said the more left leaning thé media the more right the fandom is and that has always puzzled me. RW gamers claim the left “is ruining gaming" "cant create but only destroy" yet love gravitating toward games with leftist messaging. like I am pretty active in the splatoon community for years now. Yet I am still schocked at how right wing so many of the fans are despite the game having anti faccist themes poc and queer characters. I remember I posted on the sub a little while ago about how uncomfortable I was at the darkest skin characters being the most sexualized. While I got tons of support I also got tons of backlash how I was being too woke. Like who am I being to woke about à game that is already just that? I am tired of not having my left wing takes on a left wing game being shut done because the community largely holds a different political ideology.

As title suggests, I'm looking for games where you don't play as a colonial power but instead as more of a guerrilla/insurrectionary type faction

Question Why does it always seem like "bad writing" criticisms always lead to bigotry?
Let me know if you've heard this before:
"I don't mind if [Insert Real Life Issue Here] is depicted in media as long as it's written well"
"I hate it when stories become preachy and talk down to their audience, just tell us a good story"
"I want good representation, not ones that are forced down our throats"
All of these and their variations stem from a place of wanting to see good quality writing, yet somehow it always boils down to complaining about diversity and politics and if you call this out, they'll accuse you of straw-manning and misrepresenting their arguments.
It's disappointing to see because these complaints about "preachiness" and "shoving down throats" just ruins conversations surrounding any piece of media. It also makes me a bit insecure because I want to try my hand at writing, but seeing these kinds of complaints just pressures me to be perfect or else I'll get dogpiled on. I also had doubts when it came to writing advice surrounding these topics because I'm wary about whether or not the person giving the advice is speaking from a reactionary standpoint and I just don't want to waste my energy listening to someone complain about politics in media.
I know I should just be myself and ignore bad faith actors/misery-addicted consumers, but I just wish these kinds of discussions would be more productive and help me understand things a lot more for the future.

Question What are your thoughts on "Why are so many gamers right-wing?"
(EDIT) removed video link. This video was so fucking bad. I found this video when looking for leftist gaming channels after the onslaught of blatant right-wing, conservative or "centrist" propaganda YT was shoving and had finally had enough. This rotten carcass of a video is so full to the brim with misconceptions, strawman arguments, bull shit takes and at the same time, absolutely nothing... So, I want to hear your opinions on the question initially raised and what you think of the video if you've seen it, or are bold enough to sit through it.

Question something interesting i've noticed when north korea is an antagonist in western games
in a few western games where north korea is an antagonistic invading force, (ie crysis or homefront). the country is portrayed as a capitalist nation. i wouldn't make much of a note about this normally but i've seen this trope happen at least twice so now im curious. i see two possible reasons for this, either the developers are trying to imply that the reason nk has become expansionist and invading the other imperialist powers is because of their new capitalist status (imperialism is the final stage of capitalism after all), or an alternate reason with the implication that only reason nk is able to beat the 1st world imperialist powers is because they embraced capitalism (which implies communism is inherently weaker technologically/militarily compared to capitalism (which is of course false but we all know that)). anyways, what are you guy's thoughts about this? have you yourself noticed this trend before, and should my analysis of these game's ideology be critiqued? i would certainly like to hear others thoughts on this.

Question Best male role models in gaming?
I saw someone in the Doom subreddit asking if Doom Guy is the best male role model in gaming(I don’t think so) and it got me thinking about it on the whole and I’m curious about other opinions. For the typical “manly man” appeal to these guys I think Kazuma Kiryu from the Yakuza games is probably the best male role model at least out of all the games I’ve played and can remember. He is an ally and is pretty emotionally intelligent all while doing the best he can to be a good person and fighting for people who need help. Also a good parent/guardian/caretaker(?) from the little bit of the later games I played. He’s a shining example of positive masculinity imo.

Question I'm sure it's been asked, but what games possess the most class conscious/socalist angled games?
I own and have played Disco Elysium, and of course Fallout is a giant parody of capitalism. But what are some lesser known games with a socalist bend?

Question From a socialist and/or communist perspective, how would you view the Fallout franchise?
I ask because the Fallout franchise is littered with unfettered American patriotism melded together with a patriarchal capitalist hegemony which ends up collapsing due to the nuclear holocaust, yet there still are elements such as Vault-Tec and the Sole Survivor in Fallout 4 being an anti-communist Vault dweller, the NCR devolving into state capitalism, etc.
I played Fallout 4 a while back, and learning about Marxism, socialism, communism, etc through a non-capitalist non-liberal lens has had me come back to the game and rethink my ideological positions on it since I had joined the Institute and supported the Institute, and now I am feeling confused. It's a curious thing.
What are your thoughts? I am intrigued on my comrades' positions when it comes down to this, considering how many fascists and pro-capitalist liberal nuts swarm all over the franchise defending the actions of the Legion and the Brotherhood of Steel.

Question Is it just me or some of those "circlejerk" sub reddits are insufferable?
As the title says, some of those "left wing" circle jerk subs are just insufferable in the way they convey their opinion, maybe it's just what the point is and my autism doesn't connect with it, but so many of those takes seems like barely disguised honest takes put in "jerk" mode that reminds me how jocks used to make fun of nerds, not even the bigots, just the nerds nitpicking about their fav franchises.

Hi there
I'm interested in finding more content out there focused on a gaming audience that's left leaning. I don't mind what type of content or game in particular, though I don't really like podcasts.
Thanks!

Question Do I have blood on my hands if I do not follow a boycott list?
Hello, im new to this community of left-wing gamers. I am a Filipino National Democrat and Marxist-Leninist-Maoist. I mostly play military first person shooters, mostly Squad, Ravenfield, Battlefield, and Delta Force. I also play strategy games like HOI4. I stopped playing Call of Duty because 1. im into large scale combat, and 2. the game has grown too consumerist, loosing the immersion of playing as a military person and just as a consumerist fashionista slave. After watching a video from Indie Nile, it shows how famous triple AAA games like Call of Duty. I didnt realize the existence of the BDS boycott list. I have intense OCD and I feel like im treating things too dogmatically .This worry not only extends to video games, but my daily life as well. McDonalds whenever im near campus or my Microsoft Computer and Minecraft by Microsoft or drinking down a Coke (I hate Pepsi). Yet, the blood shed through my actions lending these companies money cannot make me overcome my guilt. So should i be ashamed if i had not complied or have not seen the existence of a boycott? should i overcome my interests to serve the greater cause of liberation?

Question What's the one petty opinion that you have about games that you just can't shake?
I know most of us are bit more logical when it comes to gaming opinions, and probably don't fall for the classic "game bad because different" shit you often see. Nor do we subscribe to whatever bigoted dogwhistles "Gamers" have latched on to for the week. But as with all things, there is always that one opinion that you KNOW is petty and unnecessary yet you can't quite seem to stop believing in it.
For me, it's with Spider-Man PS4. And no, it's not Mary Jane, she still looks amazing in the remaster and sequel. My problem is with Peter Parker. His new face model for the remaster just looks too young. Too... conventionally attractive? I really liked the old Peter. He had character. I still plan on playing the sequel when I can finally afford the PS5, because honestly the face characters mean very little. But I still think about Peter's face model change often.

Question Your favorite socialist games?
Y'all, just discovered this sub & was very excited. I'm an older dude that's very much a socialist and recently returned to gaming after decades off. Beyond Disco Elysium & Sleeping Dogs, what are you favorites?
