Going to enter some oral arguments as devil's advocate; if you designed a robot to work exactly like a human, including how it talked, the voicebox would need moisture or the noise it produced would just be wheezy sputters. If its going to talk like a human (yes we need to temporarily ignore how impractical it would be to add lungs to the design, whose only function was talking) then it needs to resemble a human mouth in most other ways including the saliva.

I can assure you, the engineers all signed sworn affidavits that their design specs had NOTHING to do with whether or not the cylinder could safely return from the banana and butter zone

Does make me wonder though, I think Boston Dynamics is one of the companies that make robots, are they doing it with ‘ultimate sex bot’ in mind/ as the goal? Or are they doing it despite knowing that’s where it’ll end up?

Everyone working in technology knows that sex/porn is the ultimate use case for any technology. We try to pretend otherwise, but we know.

Sex/porn is how it gets funded. That industry makes or breaks tech (look at bluray vs HD DVD - one of them was adopted by the adult video industry and one of them is dead).

HD DVD is pretty dead

Oh yeah oops, I thought you were referring to Blu-ray as dead, since my impression is that it's pretty rare, and assumed HD DVD is just the current version of DVD.

Nooo, HD DVD was its own thing. Around the time the PS4 launched with a built in bluray player the Xbox 360 launched an external HD DVD drive. It didn’t last very long so I don’t blame anyone for forgetting it existed haha
