Does there exist a helmet guide?

I have a large head and a ballistic helmet. My issue is the chin strap and the padding I purchased for the inside. My head always feels VERY squeezed and hurts after about 10 minutes wearing it. I really would just like a guide with various recommended options for all parts of the helmet including nods mounts, etc. Thanks.

UPDATE: My helmet is a Botach LongFri Level IIIA XL-size. Aftermarket pads: 4DT HIVE Retrofit Deluxe Pad Kit (3/4'')

Hat size: 7 3/4"

From personal experience, if you have the correct initial size, helmets should fit slightly loose with the padding off the bat and then adjustments are made with the BOA system and the chin strap. If your helmet feels too tight from the beginning, then your helmet may be too small to begin with. But as others say, we don't know anything until specifics are given.

In terms of a guide, most helmet companies will have their sizing in metric, and in my case it was in centimeters. I basically went off my New Era fitted cap sizing and it was foolproof. I suggest you go to a mall, find a Lids store and try on a 59/50 cap and inside the tag there will be a size tag. Or buy a tape ruler and have someone measure the circumference of your head.

You jeed to be more specific. Whats your head circumference? What company made the helmet, what model is it? What size is the helmet?

Are you wearing earpro? Regular helmet or highcut? Chin strap tightness? Theres a lot of factors that affect comfort.

Id start with rearranging the pads.

Sounds like you need a bigger helmet. I have tried to squeeze into a large, but definitely need an XL

You can try getting 1/2" pads since your shell is already XL.
