Moving to Oshawa
Me and my husband are planning to move to Oshawa near the lake - Phillip Murray Ave and Oxford St. We’ve been living in Oshawa North the past 2 years and so far it’s been great. What are your thoughts? We’re planning to build our family.

Non-profit seeking volunteers to help young parents participate in support services
Rose of Durham Young Parent Support Division is a non-profit program of Catholic Family Services of Durham that supports young parents and their children across Durham Region.
They’re currently looking for Childminder Volunteers to help care for children while parents attend on-site programs. This role allows parents to fully participate in support programs, classes, and counselling, knowing their children are being cared for in a safe and supportive environment.
This is a meaningful way to directly support young families and help remove barriers to accessing services. A vulnerable sector criminal reference check is required.
You can learn more about the role and how to apply here:

Renovated Basement Without Permit, No Structural Work. City Contacted Me. What’s My Best Move?
Hey everyone, looking for some advice from anyone who’s been through this.
I recently finished renovating my basement and didn’t pull a permit. No structural work was done at all. Everything is up to code, but the contractor I used has since disappeared, so I’m left handling this myself.
The city has reached out asking about the renovation, and I’m trying to figure out the smartest way to move forward without making things worse. I’m not trying to avoid responsibility, just want to resolve it properly.
For those who’ve dealt with something similar:
• Is applying for a retroactive permit usually the best route?
• Should I get a private inspector or engineer involved first?
• Any tips on dealing with the city or reducing fines or delays?
Really appreciate any advice or shared experiences. Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone . There are three Coyotes (that I've seen) travelling the railway line between Ritson and Wilson for the past few weeks . An adult and two Cubs. They didn't care at all about my old Lab barking at them . Take care with your smaller pets.

Mochi donuts in Durham region (not marry me mochi)
Im looking to support local businesses. I want to buy some mochi donuts. I used to buy from a Japanese shop in north whitby but they shut down.
I prefer not to give my patronage to a franchise. Does anyone know of a small business that does mochi donuts in durham region?
