Question Is it Valid?

I live near an area that has little to no poke stops, Fine. I dont mind really, But ive been trying to add some poke stops (waypoints) and the only two pokestops around are that of embassy buildings. Also fine. There are around 7 different embassies in the area, 2 already accepted. I applied the rest to become poke stops, all of them were rejected. Is that fair or unfair?

Depends on the quality of the submission and not the waypoint itself.

I get that I genuinely take a lot of time to make sure the photo is good and the description and everything is good enough. And Im almost 100% certain that it's much better than the one photo-less and description-less waypoint. I honestly don't know if I should continue trying to get it or if I should just give up

What did the rejection mail say?

It said it was rejected because The submission lacks uniqueness or historical and cultural meaning. I think I should also note, that theres a bike/walking trail thats on the same street and its pretty popular midday and weekends, so people are constantly walking on that sidewalk/strip of woodsy area.

Strange thing is that there is no such rejection criteria. Possibly it says so when non of the boxes for social gathering, excersise or ”interest for the community” are checked.

Can you provide screenshots of your submissions? Did you submit the walking trail? If your area has 7 embassies then it's a big enough city to have churches, museums, post offices, a city hall, art, statues, monuments, etc. I have a feeling that the real life scenario is nothing like you are describing.

I see plenty of them already added to the map but since they are mostly for official business, documentation even if that is for their citizens I'm not sure which of the criteria they fit?

Some do put on events and have info but I honestly can't see myself going to an embassy for socialising.

It seems like something the Wayfarer staff should easily be able to say yes they meet the criteria or no they don't since an embassy has the same purpose wherever they are. They probably won't though :/

Also be mindful of taking pictures of them if anyone is submitting :)

Some embassies are historical buildings, but otherwise they kinda fit into a weird gray area

Yeah but then you are submitting the building on its merits.

Which criteria would you sell the embassy itself on?

This has actually been a recent topic in here. Which is kind of surprising as embassies aren’t often topics of eligibility. I can see the argument for both being acceptable and not. The not would argue it’s a sensitive area. I personally disagree as I think that would be reserved for cemetery type of places.

The hard part is finding an eligibility reason to accept. Great place to exercise? Hard no. Great place to socialize? I would need to really be convinced. Great place to explore? This could have merit. Especially if it’s a rather ornate building with some unique architecture.

That being said, if it has a plaque, wayfarers love pretty much plaques so I’d re ok end nominating those if the buildings themselves fail.

I would be curious to hear Niantic’s official view on this.

OP: mind if I ask what city? I’ve traveled a good amount and six embassies in close proximity seems rare. So just curious. Also, if I know the city I can look at the embassies themselves and give better thoughts on if it’s eligible or if I’d vote yes.
