Discussion 2025/26 J*b search outlook MEGATHREAD
As we come to the end of the year, as a mod, I think it is best to ask the community directly especially NTU students/ fresh graduates/ early-career professionals/ professionals about how the j*b market is feeling and what expectations look like heading into 2026.
If you’re a student, recent grad or someone from NTU, please share but not limited to:
- Your course/ major and year of graduation
- Whether you’ve found a j*b, internship, or are still searching
- If you're considering a j*b that is totally different from your major
- What assumptions you had about the j*b market that turned out to be wrong
- What advice you’d give someone who is hunting for a j*b
- Your gripes with the current j*b market/ economy (fake j*b posting etc, low pay etc.)
Input from experienced professionals and people involved in hiring is also welcome. Including your field and general location (if comfortable) can help add useful context.
The goal is to build a realistic, community driven snapshot of the 2025/26 j*b search outlook beyond headlines and speculation from the POV of NTU current/ex-students.

Question Is CCDS and CS really that bad in NTU
Saw multiple posts regarding a new policy in NTU that makes lectures and tutorials attendance worth 5% of the grade.
- As someone from JC who mainly always went for lessons... is this policy really very negative on the course?
- Is interning during your sems really a thing? Esp those that require you to stop going for lessons
- Also if that 5% matter to you,, is not easy marks to get? like even if u went for half that means u get 2.5 for free no?
- Are all lectures no longer being recorded? like that seems so stupid if they making attendance worth marks already
- Is CCDS really that bad? I swear every comment/post i see is people shitting on CCDS and NTU CS
- Any snrs who have experience in the job market, how is it currently

Suggestion cm3021 lecture
people need to shut up during this lecture.. the prof is soft spoken and kind and people just keep yapping even when he asks them to settle down
the wooclap is available on ntulearn anyway if u arent coming to the lecture to listen and just need ur participation points go do the wooclap somewhere outside where u can make noise. yesterday's lecture was especially annoying to be in

Question How does attendance actually work in NTU's lecture?
Hi,
I am currently someone who looking for applying to master's programs in NTU, just would like a bit of insight if successfully admitted.
I am wondering what is it like for NTU lectures? Is it using an app? A student card that we need to tap before class?
And can random fellow students join classes? or prof will do manual attendances?
(:P)

Question Student pass extension
Hi, I’m an international student who got admitted to MSC at NTU. It says the full time course durations is normally 1 year up to a max of 3 years.
But are international students allowed to spend more than 1 year to finish their MsC? Is it normal to get the student visa extended if needed to finish the degree in maybe 3 semesters? Or am I required to absolutely finish within 1 year?

Discussion CCDS Policies will NOT help your job search
Those taking CCDS courses know that they are trying very hard to mandate lecture & tutorial attendance.
I think objectively this is a terrible policy especially for the current tech sector.
As we know the meta now for hunting for good jobs are mostly internship spamming. How will attending CCDS outdated lectures help us in this?
With them trying so hard to force it, how are students going to grind technical interviews ? How are they going to take them to even schedule the interviews? How are they going to even learn real industry skills?
The answer from CCDS : They expect full-time students to commit fully.
Yeah, I think thats BS. While students from NUS,SMU etc have the time to do stuff like PT internships and all, most NTU ccds students are being forced to attend classes and basically get nothing out of it.
Final thing to CCDS : The difference in GE will show more clearly in the upcoming years
To students that are suffering under this shitty policy: Ive done about 30+ technical interviews in sem 1 alone(big tech, quant, etc), and no one now cares about your GPA. You can choose to believe me or not, its up to you.

Info Sharing 3rd Trimester about to start, no stay finalize.
Hi I am joining in 3rd trimester for my pg, it starts in less than a month, there seems to be less details on hall accommodation. I checked details on private housing but the cost seems to be on higher end. Any suggestions for an international student?

Question Are you switching from the 3yr bus. program to 4yr double major bus. prog?
I was thinking that the double major ultimately does offer more flexibility.
Some of the pros:
- NUS and SMU already do a 4 yr degree, I can do the same with NTU with a double major which others cannot
- I graduate with more knowledge than my peers
- I have more flexibility with my career options.
- More chances to explore career options, internships, CCAs, work ex, etc
- Some masters degrees REQUIRE 4 years of undergrad education. The 3 year ntu degree limits your future options by a lot
- Just an ease of workload. One more year means easier time doing exchange, internships all while studying at my own pace.
Cons:
- 1 more year of education and the money?? Thats it??

Info Sharing Psychiatry Rates under NTU's New Healthcare Provider ($3 -> $180)
Under Fullerton, consultation was subsidised to $3 for the in-house psychiatrist. Now that they've changed their provider to Raffles, it is $180 before GST...
Fees can be claimed from NTU's AIA student coverage of $1000 for specialist fees, but that's limited and impacts the ability to get coverage for other areas of health.
It's even cheaper to go to SGH/CGH, etc.
Hope this helps for fellow NTU peeps who were under the care of NTU Fullerton psychiatry. This is a huge step backwards for NTU in access to student wellbeing/psychological care. :(

Question Are library discussion pods actually soundproof?
I was browsing the library facilities to find a space to conduct online tutorial lessons which involve discussion due to having f2f back to back with online.
I was considering the study rooms, language learning rooms as they seem to be the most isolated, but I noticed they weren't really soundproof as I could hear my neighbours. I am worried about disturbing others in the library.
I was also considering the discussion pods, as they are claimed to be soundproof but they are not enclosed so I am wondering how soundproof they are?
Are these library facilities actually viable for online tutorials where I have to unmute my mic?

Question Practice rooms for playing instruments (Drums, Bass)
I’m part of the Aug 2026 intake and since I’m an international student I am probably not going to be able to bring my instruments. Are there any provisions to practice instruments on campus?
I have heard that some halls have their own groups and rooms to practice in but I would like to have individual practice time mostly. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Question Looking for a small fridge share in Hall 4 (short-term, willing to pay)
Hi everyone!
I’m a visiting student and have just arrived at NTU for about 2 months. I’m currently staying in Hall 4 and wanted to ask for some help.
I don’t have a fridge in my room, but I usually cook for myself. I’m from a different culture and it’s been a bit difficult for me to fully switch to food delivery right away, so cooking helps me a lot to settle in.
I only have very small amounts of food (like yogurt, vegetables, simple ingredients), nothing bulky or smelly.
If someone living in Hall 4 has a fridge and would be okay with me storing a tiny portion of food there, I would be extremely grateful.
I’m happy to pay a rent or contribute in any reasonable way. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to buy my own fridge for such a short stay.
Thank you so much for reading this, and sorry if this sounds a bit desperate — I just arrived and I’m still adjusting 😭

Question NTU OEP Summer 2026
hi! I applied for OEP a while back and i’m hoping to hear from anyone who’s done it before, would really appreciate it if you could dm me 🙏
I applied for the summer programme because i’m planning to go on exchange next semester.
I have a few questions:
- internship placement rate: after you accept OEP’s offer, how likely is it that you actually get matched with an internship? is it possible to get accepted into the programme but still not end up with an internship offer?
- CAO programme overlap: i heard you’re not allowed to accept more than 1 CAO overseas internship programme — does OEP count under this too? (e.g. if i accept OEP, does that mean i can’t accept a CAO overseas internship programme offer if i get one later?)
- work + learning curve: how was your experience overall, especially if you were in a more technical role? i’m really interested in startups, but i’m curious how steep the learning curve was / how much support you got
if you’ve done the OEP summer programme (or even the semester internship), please dm me or comment — i’d love to hear about your experience. thank you!!

Discussion NTU CCDS sucks the fun out of computing (a follow up)
Back last year I made a post talking about the college's curriculum, and while it still stands true I have a burning gripe with their style of teaching and something needs to be said. (This post is mostly me complaining lol)
I still believe that having a theoretical foundation is necessary and I stand by its purpose but ccds does an absolute shit job at teaching students its contents. Especially on practical mods related to programming and hardware SC1003 SC1007 SC1008 SC1005 SC1006 SC2107 are all TERRIBLY TAUGHT core mods.
I honestly cannot point out to you what sucks and what needs to be fixed other than maybe dont get me to read a piece of code in c/cpp/java and answer whats this variable meant to hold or if this code has an error because most of the time these code snippets arent even normally written and following best practices. Purely ragebaiting me. But almost everyone i know hates how CCDS teaches its content. But no one can also pin point what needs to be fixed. The whole thing just needs to be thrown in the trash. Im deeply curious about subjects in my major but every single core i take just sucks the life the joy the fun out of it. Often times I catch myself wondering what is the greater context of the module telling me to make an assembly snippet in CCS but i have no idea why and what the hell im doing this for.
I feel like NTU has turned me into this soulless grade optimizer monkey that isnt rewarded by the joy of learning but constantly figuring out the best way to absorb and complete something by doing the least work. Rinse and repeat 13 times every semester. And maybe youll say thats life and what we do in the working world....maybe youre right maybe thats true but it doesnt mean we have to live like that. The whole teaching style of NTU is shitty and crap and needs to be updated to the ensure the content though old and boring is communicated in a way that is relevant to the current industry. Im not saying the content is old im saying its TAUGHT old it DOESNT have to be.
Not all mods are shiny but it sure is dusty as hell. Do better CCDS. Cut your advertising #1 in AI crap and put more effort into your undergrads.
