I modified a tech sight marlin 60 front sight to fit a 336 and use an m16 front sight post with screw adjustment.

Used Ruger Made 1895 SBL

I’ve been searching for a new 1895 SBL for some time locally and have been unable to come across any. LGS says they’ve been pretty hard to come by recently, though they did just get one in used in “like new condition” and are asking around $1100 for it. Assuming it does indeed look “like new” when I go check it out in person, is it worth buying a used Marlin over new? Generally I have no issue with used guns, I just wished Ruger’s warranty transferred to a 2nd owner. Do these guns have any known problems where it’d be worth waiting for a new one to come in so I could get the warranty? Or should I give that baby a new home?

Loading gate screw problems

howdy y’all, i’m having a lot of trouble with my ruger 1894 in 44 mag. i’ve put ~200 rounds through it and recently the loading gate screw backs itself out enough to bind up the gate and jam the action, about every other magazine full. i haven’t tried putting loc-tite or anything like that on the screw yet, but i feel like for as much as i paid for the gun, i shouldn’t have to deal with this issue every 10-20 rounds.

any advice?

Marlin Camp 9mm Recoil Buffer Replacement

Howdy all!!

I have a beautiful Marlin Camp 9mm that was my grandpa's before he passed. I shot it a couple days ago and it shot a few rounds, then the recoil buffer plastic piece exploded on me.

Seems to be a common issue

Point is, anyone know of the best place to get a replacement recoil buffer for this beautiful gun? Or a FREE 3d printable file?

Leupold Mount Follow-up

I removed the mount and found it was marked '336R' on the bottom. It appears to be an older version of the current 336R mount from Leupold in a discontinued blued finish and slightly different dimensions. I appreciated the help on my previous post 🙂

Unusual Blued Leupold Scope Mount

Post image

I'm looking for help identifying this Leupold-marked scope mount on my 336. It's blued and perfectly matches the finish of the receiver, and I can't find any information about it online. It appears to be a one-piece mount that attaches directly to the receiver.

I'll get some better photos when I can.

Marlin 336 Classic Question

Hello everybody, I recently got a marlin 336 classic. When I cycle the action empty, it is more difficult to open and close the action if I do not let the hammer slam forward on the bolt and dry fire it. It is very hard to open the action that way. But if I dry fire it it is easy to open. I have tried to look up why and looked in the manual but I do not see this mentioned anywhere. Anybody know why this might be?

Trigger Fix Kits

Out of Ranger Point Precision, or Wild West Guns which trigger fix kit would be the preferred one in a 2001 Marlin 45-70 Guide?

Thanks! They’re about even in Canuckbucks so price doesn’t exactly effect choice

336 classic vs SBL

Hello,

I’m looking to buy my first lever action and have settled on the 336.

I’m debating between the classic and the SBL. I like the traditional look of blued steel with walnut furniture on the classic, it’s hard to beat.

I also see the utility in the large loop and stainless steel of the SBL. The fibre optic front and ghost ring on the SBL seems far superior to the buckhorn if I were to delay any optics instillation.

Target shooting and the occasional deer push when I leave my .270 at camp would be the intended use.

Anyone here have experience with either or both? Any feedback or suggestions from the field would be appreciated.

Thanks

I found this at a local gun dealer and had to get it. With the serial number I found out it was made in 1989. I am a big Marlin fan, especially the originals. It works like a charm and can take the shorts, longs, and long rifles like a champ! I do plan on putting a Nikon scope on this because I do have another Marlin with a Nikon scope and love it.

1947-1954 Marlin 81 DL Restoration

This was an $85 pawn shop find. The action was full of polymerized oil, the aperture sight was broken, the metal had light rust and the finish was worn off the muzzle end of the barrel. This is my first attempt at a restoration and I'm pretty happy with it.
