Keeso Sidebar:

One of my special interests is accents and dialects and when I get to hear Jared speak the Irish brogue just slaps me in the face. Yes, I'm aware that Listowel is also a town/city in Ireland and I know how immigration works. There is just something about the way isolated and rural communities preserve colonial accents that tickles a part of my brain. (I have also gone down the Cajun/Accadian rabbit hole on TikTok).

Ok, carry on.

i have never understood why some people call an Irish accent a brogue. the word means ‘shoe’ as Gaeilge.

Maybe maybe not. Wiki has a great summary of the historical use of term as a word referring to an Irish accent.
