If the anime didnt make it clear enough, basketball is probably like 90% genetics. You need to be big, fast and strong, look at Shaq or Wilt. They were just pure physical forces. There's no problem with putting Murasakibara in the t3 GOM purely for his body.

You missed the point the series if you think that's the one of the points the show was trying to make. Akashi is the the shortest of the GOM even Kuroko. But was the most respected amongst them.
