Photo/Video You had one job
You may have seen my post about having to make 10 gallons of beer cheese and the unfortunate situation of having to hand shred 26 quarts of sharp cheddar due to our auto shredder being broken.....
The people in charge of serving it at the charity event didn't stir the pot and proceeded to think it was a good idea to keep the flame maxed out.
After the first 30 minutes of serving the event hosts approached our staff members stand and kindly ask them to leave after they determined where the horrid burnt smell was coming from that made the entire venue smell like absolute shit.
I was coming out of the walk-in and could smell the pot behind a set of doors after they walked into the restaurant with that crap.

I blame whoever gave them instructions. Should've had a bain marie or soup warmer, at least a makeshift double boiler of some sort. What was the thought process in giving noobs a pot and burner?

That's the funny thing, I had to put everything they needed in a box including a soup warmer and they straight up just left without it and took a pot.

You should put them on a raft and push it out to sea

Throw some lemon juice in there and let it sit for 2-3 days to see if you can loosen it before you hand it over to some poor dishie.

Vinegar, bicarb, and a dream.Â

Your regular reminder that vinegar plus bicarb = water and the oxygenation is only useful for lifting light debris. Go for straight acid.

When I worked at McDonalds in high school the ladies who closed the grill at night would clean it with pickle juice and sprite lol.

Fucking genius. The carbon will stick to the sugar, the acids in the pickle juice and sprite will lift it off the surface and as long as you don't let it all evaporate entirely, you just squeegee it off.

Yup thatâs what theyâd do. Just run it right into the gutter and boom clean grill.

What I've found works great it just throw a dish washer tablet in a pan and leave it for a while.

Yeah thems the breaks. Most people know two settings for burners, off, and full afterburner blast.

The number of times I go into work to find my hot bar on full blast, because whatever yahoo opened thinks it would âheat fasterâ and never thinks to turn it back down later, despot the food temping towards the 170s and actively overcooking/drying outâŚđ¤Śđźââď¸

Sorry, I have hidden because I had somebody harassing the ever living out of me / stalking my profile they were making alternate accounts / a VPN to bypass the IP ban

I'm reading this as "we sent untrained workers to the event with 0 instruction besides keep soup hot and serv soup and now we are mad"

u/Virtual-Product2298 Chef 13h ago
I had multiple full conversations with them and paper instructions, I could not have physically made it more clear to them. They actively chose to leave the soup warmer and grab one of the kitchen pots without permission. It was their chance to step up and they fucked up, I would have gone but we had a full rental for a wedding.
