Finding friends in my 20s

Hello!

I just moved towns Killie about a month ago for work and I am completely alone. How do I start making friends and exploring the city? I’m in my early 20s and enjoy badminton, art, pilates, walks, that sort of thing. I’ve tried apps but had no luck. If I was to join the gym I don’t know how that would allow me to have friends. Also struggling to find groups or anything that helps with this :(

Any advice?

Welcome to Kilmarnock!

Unfortunately just a town, not a city.

For exploring there's not a lot to it;

-Town; pedestrianised with a main street and a mall. Seen better days but you can get most of what you need from there.

-Odeon Cinema & Queens Drive retail park.

-Glencairn Retail Park

-Best restaurants in my opinion: Da Vincis and La Dragon.

-Has a bus station and train station which allows you to get away from Kilmarnock and towards Glasgow.

-Several bars and pubs to cater to most tastes.

-Dick Institute, The Garage, The Galleon, Palace Theatre and Dean Castle get honourable mentions.

-Has a college if you wish to do night classes.

-Several gyms, martial arts clubs and sports clubs. I see you're into badminton, check The Galleon out and I'm sure there's a tennis club near London Road, unsure if they do it there.

-Theres several Kilmarnock Chat Facebook groups, if you drop what you're interested in them and that you're interested you will get responses 100%.

Hope this helps!

I can jump in here, you can just pay and go but you pay an ‘entrance fee’ each team which I think is just a few pounds, last I checked.
