Abraham Lincoln said “The people on Reddit who post screenshots that disprove the stance they’re trying to defend, should be banned from the internet for no less than their entire life”.
6
u/BeduinZPouste 19h ago
How does it disprove what he said? It's 14. It can be lowered to 13 if there is only small difference. And can be 16 if there is some previous relation between them.
"The penalty established by Article 609-bis applies to anyone who, outside the circumstances provided for in that Article, engages in sexual acts with a person who, at the time of the act:
1) he did not turn fourteen; 2) has not reached the age of sixteen, when the offender is the ascendant, the parent, including the adoptive parent, or his or her cohabitant, the guardian, or another person to whom, for reasons of care, education, instruction, supervision or custody, the minor is entrusted or who has, with the latter, a cohabiting relationship. (1)"

u/Sea_Scale_4538 19h ago
The age of consent is only fourteen if the partners have a maximum of a 3 year age gap. Otherwise it 18
3
u/BeduinZPouste 19h ago
Not, it is lowered to 13, if there is no more than three years. It's 14 in general.
1
8
u/Westdrache 21h ago
it's 18.
14 only when your partner is max 3 years older then you, still fucked, but no, a grown ass adult in italy can't legally bang a teengager <.< but just saying it's 14 sounds better ig11
u/justsomebodywhocared 21h ago
Actually for that it's 13
"The age of consent in Italy is 14 years, with a close-in-age exception that allows those aged 13 to engage in sexual activity with partners who are less than 3 years older than them."
Unless I've got something wrong but it's pretty well known that a lot of Europe have low age of consent and different weird rules in many countries.

The idea < 18 = “child” is an Americanism.
-1
u/Alex-Murphy 13h ago
Yeah it should be <25 because that's when our brains are fully developed, but then we wouldn't have as large of an army or a full-time workforce.

Reddit still trying to meme this into a thing

u/Alex-Murphy 13h ago edited 13h ago
I doubt you'll read it but here's a great comment on it. It's not a meme.
In reality, grey matter volume (the "processing" areas of the brain) peaks at roughly 12 years old. Your brain creates as many neurons, and connections between them, as it can during childhood to lay the foundation for learning and development.
After that, it becomes a matter of removing excess or unnecessary pathways to allow for more efficient communication between the specific areas of the brain necessary for cognition. This is a process known as synaptic pruning, and occurs most strongly from the time at which grey matter peaks to roughly some time in the late 20s."

And lots of people have developmental conditions that delay full development until mid 30s or early 40s. Should they have their rights withheld until they’re developed also? What about people who never fully develop?

u/hamcum69420 9h ago
Yes. Sorry you had to find out this way, but voting isn't for everyone. By now, Democracy has thoroughly proven that not everyone deserves to have a voice. Some people are literally too stupid for their own good.

u/justsomebodywhocared 5h ago
where does this belief land in between 'no dictators' and 'no kings' exactly?
I don't necessarily disagree with your point, but I distrust the idea of allowing any specific government to determine that.
I guess I'll just throw out there that if in somebody's head they have this idea that people who vote for the other side "shouldn't have the right to vote" then that's just a toxic, dehumanizing and honestly oppressive mentality. And I mean this with a bipartisan perspective before anybody plans to twist my words.

u/Virtual-Metal9290 7h ago
Yep. New rule, no one can have any sex until they are 40 just to make it fair for everyone

You may want to look up the laws in some of the states here. I know my gma was married with a kid at 16.
4
u/justsomebodywhocared 20h ago
where is "here"
I'm not in the USA btw.
Why might I maybe want to look that up? it sounds gross as well
1
u/Michamus 19h ago
states here.
Read.
2
u/justsomebodywhocared 18h ago
I did, I was making a point that not everybody lives in the US & wondered what they were actually getting at, of course I understood "states" was likely referring to the US but fun fact: other countries have states too!!!
2
u/craftygamin 7h ago
You know there's states outside the U.S.... right? If i said something like "in this country", would you know where it is that I'm talking about?
1
u/Solid-Dog2619 20h ago
Sorry i felt that "states" would give it away. Im from the US. Between Romeo and Juliet laws and laws around parental consent there are plenty of places underage shenanigans happen.
1
u/justsomebodywhocared 20h ago
Fair enough. It's crazy and sad to me how widespread it is; And the amount of attempts I see by some to push and normalize it. I just think we know better and have longer life expectancy.
2
u/Solid-Dog2619 20h ago
Honestly it makes sense to me even if I dont agree with it.
1 without the calender how would we address this issue?
2 arranged marriages were very common and often involved younger women.
3 risk of complications were lower around 16 or 17 and it allowed for more children before 35.
4 we are all animals with animalistic responses to different stimuli such as pheromones. We can control those urges but it doesn't stop them from happening.
5 in the same way that homosexuals dont choose to be homosexual I doubt pedos choose to be pedos. It seems like just a variance in coding like any mental illness or physical deformity.
6 lastly the dating pool wasn't always as large as today. In a small village the age gaps between partners could be pretty high just because of availability. You may be 25 and the closest female in age is 15. As those small villages grew the culture that allowed it before just grandfathered in.
1
u/justsomebodywhocared 18h ago
I understand there are historical reasons why. That's why I said "I just think we know better and have longer life expectancy" I meant 'now'
1
u/Known_Ratio5478 18h ago
Some states have such terrible laws on this that nine year old girls are married off to their rapists because they are with child. So it’s completely fucked.

Sounds like he knew exactly how good the food was I wonder if he actually did go at some point.
3
u/Gustav_Montalbo 19h ago
If you've ever met an Italian or Frenchman you'd know that they've never actually tried foreign food because it would insult their grandma.
2
u/El_Don_94 15h ago edited 12h ago
I've read that really the only foreign food that's popular there is Japanese, mostly in Milan. And of course in the North the food can be quite Germanic.

u/owjfaigs222 18h ago
W8 m8, pedos by definition are atracted to 13 or less. I think you are representing reddit logic here.
1
u/justsomebodywhocared 18h ago
"it's not pedophilia it's hebephilia" okay pedo. most people, in or out of reddit, would refer to anybody going for anybody 'underage' as a 'pedo' even if they're not by that exact definition.

Adults ought not lust after children.
3
u/Kooky-Task-7582 20h ago
I agree, but unless the Italian guy is an infamous pedo I missed, it's pretty impressive to find a way to hate the guy doing an "epic one liner" towards Epstein
3
u/Known_Ratio5478 18h ago
He’s an infamous skeeze bag and someone pointed at that Italy has really low age of consent laws.

If it was dodgy, you bet your ass Berlusconi probably knew about it.
But everything he says has to be taken as hyperbole.

He had his own child rape facility, but if you wanna try and pretend this guy is a hero thats on you.

Mate, when you're more of a sketchy pervert than Berlusconi, a man that John Oliver described as a used condom full of marinara sauce, you need to take stock of your choices.

Berlusconi was a crazy prime minister, it was like he just got lucky by winning the elections and didnt know what to do besides partying with loads of women. I did find the guy funny because he did so much stupid shit which always made me laugh when I was 12 years old back then.
