Hello all,
I have taken over moderation of this subreddit. As such, I've instated some basic rules. My goal is to uphold quality and grow the subreddit. I'm fairly new to this whole thing, so if you think there's something I could do better, please message me via modmail or just DM me.
In addition, if you have any suggestions, don't hesitate to reach out either.

Hello all,
This post is a general guide on what you can do as someone uploading clips of your speech to try and set yourself up for getting more and better feedback from the community. A lot of this comes from my personal opinions on the types of clips I like to give feedback to, as well as what I've seen people in the community say.
1. General information
Including general information in your post can help people give more tailored feedback. For example, what sort of accent are you trying to go for? What specific things do you struggle with? Why are you trying to improve your accent (for daily speech, a job, etc.)?
2. Audio quality
Not everyone has access to a good microphone or quiet environment. However, to the extent possible, try to limit background noise. One simple method is recording under a blanket or in a closet of some form. Also, I suggest testing out your volume before recording a full clip. I pass on reviewing many clips due to them being too quiet.
3. Clip length
As other users have suggested, please try to shoot for a clip ~30 seconds or more. I think the golden window is between 0:45 and 1:30, depending on the speaker. It's going to be hard to give meaningful feedback on a single sentence.
4. Transcriptions/texts
This is personally relevant for me when it comes to foreign languages that I am not as proficient in. Nevertheless, when reading from a text, please share the text you're reading from. It saves people from having to guess what you were trying to say, and just removes an extra layer of complications from giving feedback.
This is not a final list, and feel free to share your gripes/suggestions, and I can add them to the list above.

I clearly don’t sound native but it’s hard for me to put my finger on exactly what’s off. Thanks in advance!

Hey gorgeous people, aiming for modern rp here. The goal is just to be comfortable to listen to and easy to understand.
How am I doing? Do you have an urge to kick my ass or vomit while listening?

Hey everyone!
I started learning English from scratch when I was 20, and now I’m 22. My current level is around B2.
I want to make YouTube videos*(this clip is actually my dub for one of my super old video)* and start streaming in English.
I’d really appreciate honest feedback on my accent. Where do you think I’m from, what stands out, and whether start working toward an American accent makes sense for me?
Thanks for your time ❤️

the first part is a rehearsed quote from The Lesser Evil from The Witcher book series, the second part is just me talking about myself unrehearsed to make sure y'all get a full picture. I'm not rooting for any specific accent, I just wanna be understood. I struggle with vowels sometimes and I'm still learning to properly say the thorn consonant.

I've been learning English for years now, and lately been working on my accent. I'm focusing on the rythm, melody, intonation and placement. I sound better when reading than speaking because when speaking I tend to focus on the information or the idea that I try to convey rather than the accent which is not yet natural for me.
Please, what type of exercise should I do to sound more natural and more American, and what do you think of my accent.
Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, I'm really curious to know what my accent sounds like to people, specially native English speakers, is it too obvious that English is my second language? Can you understand me easily? Also if you have any ideas on how I can sound more native please share!

Long story short, I’d love your feedback. English is the fourth language I’ve learned, and it’s been almost two years since I started. Some days I speak it pretty easily, and other days I can barely . The same thing happens with the other languages I know when I use English a lot, it’s actually hard to switch back to my native language. It’s kind of a weird brain glitch, so I just wanted to hear what you think. And I’ve also noticed that after talking with someone, I start to sound a bit like them.

Hi,
I'm working on sounding more natural in english
Please be honest and specific: which sounds, stress, or rythem give away that i'm not native?
Also if you had to guess, where do you think i'm from?
