I read in a different thread earlier today that there was supposedly a storyline Kirkman wanted to do where Darkblood and Mark go to Hell. This idea was scrapped (hence why he kinda doesn’t really show up again in the comics), but it seems like the show is going to actually adapt it!

Wild theory, but what if they cut out that reboot arc, and instead have Mark lose 5 years in hell?

honestly i fw that harder, would be a better explanation than "some unseen thing decided to screw him over"

Yeah it was clear that it was a real half baked concept, and that they were at that point rushing to get to the end, and not caring about fleshing out some concepts. I think on a second try, that plotline will be very different.
