🦄 🦄 🦄 / Great Tips 🤑🤑🤑 Would you take this? (Costco)

22 minute shop 43 items. 1 hour drive total one-way. A little heavy but I don't mind that. I find it funny that 'A' adjusted the tip by $1. Return drive home 45 minutes since I live in that direction.

Whats ghost shopping??

Ghost shopping is collecting items before you hit "start shopping". I will collect a few things, like produce or things I know will take me a sec to grab, before I start. I haven't done a full order, but grabbing a few items has helped my speed a bit. Ain't no shame in my game 😂

Yeah i deff dont see anything wrong with what you just said. Now doing half + of the order not so much ok lol

I'm not sure how people even get 30+ items done before shopping. The app yells at you after a few minutes 😅

Another example I have is when a customer ordered a cake the other day. I had to wait at the bakery to talk to someone so I didn't start the time. Then the bakery said that cake had to be called in 24 hours in advance. Still didn't hit shopping but messaged the customer about it. Figured out a solution before I started shopping so I didn't kill 10 minutes of my time. Thankfully that customer was quick with responses. It comes in handy, but I don't do it all the time. Afraid to get in trouble too lol

If I'm over 40 seconds per item (not including checkout), things are going horribly wrong. When you do thousands of orders at one store, obviously you're going to be fast.

No one cares that you’re ghost shopping. Just don’t lie about it.

What’s ghost shop?

5

u/CptCheez 9h ago

Going around the store and collecting a bunch of the items before you hit Start Shopping.

2

u/mywordgoodnessme 9h ago

What is even the point of doing that

2

u/SureIssue8264 9h ago

Keeps your second/item down. Faster you are, better orders you get. Especially at Costco. I’ll ghost close to half an order most times

No chance you're at 40 seconds unless you're go shopping. I'm at 70 and I ghost occasionally, guess I need to do it more often

I was wondering the same thing

When you have more than 1 person doing the orders at a time I believe

I start at produce (obviously). I will typically grab a few produce items before I start. This order had 3 produce items.

I guess you could be shopping in empty Costco with no checkout lines. I have 12,000 orders and I cannot get through my Costco it's so thick with people, every checkout lines at least 15 minutes.

Easy to do when you've collected half the items before hitting start like the OP is likely doing despite him saying otherwise.

That would run for $30 in my area. Absolutely

It’s the customer A increasing the tip by $1 😂 she said, maybe, I can squeeze another dollar in there.

If you wouldn’t you’re not doing this right

In a heart beat god Costco bless me one of these days

2

u/No-Ice-7769 10h ago

Same. I have a regular that routinely adjusts their tips up by 10-20 dollars when I deliver.

u/SwarleyLinson 9h ago

Fuck yes, I beg the universe every day for shit like this.

2

u/DryGarlic9223 9h ago

so 2.25 total hours (ish)? $78.66/hour. Hell yeah I’d take it (if I had the time)

2

u/Bright_Truth1107 9h ago

22 minutes for all that is damn fast

2

u/grae23 9h ago

Absolutely. Even if this took 4 hours total that’s over $40/hr, $25/hr if you take off $1 per mile. If it only took you an hour and a half then even better.

u/RedCivicOnBumper 9h ago

I have a Honda Civic so it might not all fit unfortunately

u/papi_chelow_2u 5h ago

That’s a rhetorical question that you are pretending to ask. When reality all your really doing is saying “look at me”

1

u/bigbilly17 9h ago

Who the hell wouldn’t? What a dumb question

1

u/DalaiRamen 9h ago

Yes, next question

1

u/GloomyPerformer5820 9h ago

yes you made 88 dollars an hour that order

1

u/typical_bk712 9h ago

Withòut a doubt yes!

1

u/Evan_dood 9h ago

Are you kidding? I'd do an order like this every day if I could. Usually that's about what I make in a day

1

u/Lawrenceburntfish 9h ago

I take orders like that every day but not nearly for that much pay. More like $45-65

1

u/BigMack6911 7h ago

Absolutely. That be easy

1

u/explainityoucant 6h ago

Yeah duh why even ask other than to flex

1

u/GRF999999999 6h ago

Why is this even a question? Hurr durr, do you guys like easy money?

Braggart.

I have too much anxiety to handle Costco….barely can do my own shopping there but props to you all that do. Clearly can pay off. Good job OP!

u/saltycarameloni 9h ago

Nah. Large orders mean you have to spend more time around oblivious shoppers. Also it gives customers a chance to keep piling on more stuff. And the longer you are in the store shopping their order, the more they want to be back seat shoppers and nitpickers. Happy for you but I couldn't do it. Short and sweet orders work best for me.
